Win a Stack of Christian Romance Books!

I blog with a group of contemporary Christian romance authors over at InspyRomance.com. In my completely unbiased opinion, it’s one of the best corners of the Internet. There’s a blog post every day with authors talking about bookish things and sharing behind-the-scenes snippets. We’re having a huge giveaway to celebrate nine years of this wonderful blog. It’s been going on since Valentine’s Day, but you still have six days left to enter the prize giveaway.
To be in with a chance to win, comment on any of the posts published between February 14th and February 16th. Each comment you make is a separate entry, so the more times you comment, the greater your chances of winning. Come on over and join the fun, and I hope you’ll stick around!

Another Brave Story by a Nigerian Author

Once again, Tope Omotosho treads where most other Christian writers fear to go. Her books are what I would call “meat” and not “milk.” In other words, they deal with heavy issues, without glossing them over. This time, she deals head on with a main character facing same-sex attraction.
Whenever I pick up a book by this author, I know I’m going to read a story grounded firmly in Christian values as well as life’s very real struggles. Found is no different. This time, Zainab is front and centre. A deeply flawed, deeply hurting woman, Zainab is relatable in so many ways. It was exhilarating to read about how she comes to faith and how God heals her broken places.
I also enjoyed following up with the characters I’ve met in earlier books in this series.

So Many Free Books!

So many free books! Jan Thompson, a Christian romance author friend, has pulled together a page of books available at no cost. But you’ll only be able to access the page until January 31st. I grabbed a few for myself, including ones by Dora Hiers and Edwina Kiernan. Rachel Knowles is new to me, but I loved the teaser in her book description.
Check out the books for yourself and see what you can find!

Are You Superstitious?

It’s Friday the 13th today. Are you superstitious?
I remember as a child picking my way along the pavement, convinced that if I stepped on a crack or a line, it would cause my mother a painful injury. “Step on a crack, break your mother’s back,” my schoolmates used to chant.
Staring at the ground as I walked sometimes brought other benefits, like spotting a copper coin I might otherwise have missed. Because we’d also say, “Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck.”
But our biggest superstition was probably about Friday the 13th. A pop quiz? Tripping in the lunchroom and falling flat on your face in front of everyone? Throwing up all over your desk? Anything could happen on this “unlucky” day.
Since becoming a Christian, though, I’ve learned that “luck” doesn’t exist. My wellbeing isn’t influenced by rituals such as what to do when I spill salt or sneeze. Because God is in complete control. Even when terrible things happen, I learned that God has a plan and can work in all circumstances for our ultimate good, if we trust him.
People who are against belief in God often lump Christian faith and superstition together. But the two are very different. Superstition means believing that specific actions have the power to influence whether we’ll have good or bad luck. But Christian faith means trusting that God is sovereign over all, and not even Christian-looking rituals can manipulate him. Wearing a cross, attending services, and doing other pious acts don’t in themselves have any power. We’re saved and blessed not because of anything we do, but because of who we are in Christ and what he has already done for us—by his grace.

Within the Storm is Out

Book 3 in my Seasons of Faith series releases today! My third novel with The Mosaic Collection, Within the Storm tells the story of a widow trying to protect her late husband’s legacy, and the brother-in-law who knows just how tarnished that legacy is.
Within the Storm is available as an ebook on all major online retailers. The paperback is in the works and will be on sale soon.
He hid the truth to spare her heart, even as it broke his.
Five years ago, Bethany lost her husband, a world-famous actor, in a freak accident. Since then, she has rebuilt her life away from the limelight in her small Norwegian hometown.
But her peace is about to be destroyed.
A vengeful co-star is preparing to publish a vicious tell-all book to smear her late husband’s name. Refusing to stand by and allow his memory to be tarnished, Bethany scrambles to release her own biography to celebrate his legacy. To make that happen, she needs mementos and stories from his childhood. That means swallowing her pride and asking for help from his brother, Lukas, who’s always treated her with icy indifference.
Lukas knew his brother never deserved Bethany. The selfish, narcissistic rogue swept her off her feet while keeping her in the dark about the unsavory and immoral corners of his life. The only way Lukas could protect his own heart and integrity was to keep Bethany at arm’s length and avoid blurting out his feelings for her. She deserved better… to be treasured and adored. Knowing he could never fill that role, he hid his attraction and his guilt, and allowed her to believe he despised her.
Now, as she turns to him to help memorialize his brother, Lukas faces an impossible choice. If he lets her discover the truth, he’ll open up a long-awaited chance to confess his feelings for her. But the full truth will also reveal his own role in hiding a closet full of skeletons.
Within the Storm is Book 3 in Milla Holt’s Seasons of Faith Christian romance series. Five friends were in the same wedding in a small Norwegian town over twenty years ago. Four bridesmaids, one bride. Now, two decades on, each woman learns that God’s timing is perfect as they find forever love later in life.

Two Weeks to Release Day!

I’ve been missing in action lately. And this book over here is why!
I’m in the final stages of preparing my next title for release, and I can almost taste the finish line.
Through the Blaze comes out on September 14th, and is the second book in my Seasons of Faith Christian romance series. And this time, I’ve written about a couple whose marriage has hit the rocks.
The sad reality is most people who say “I do” don’t find their happily-ever-after. That includes people of faith.
So, I wanted to explore what happens when a Christian couple’s marriage falls apart, and they must fight to find their way back to each other.
This story follows on immediately after Into the Flood, the first book in the series, but you don’t need to have read Book 1 to understand Lisa and Kai’s second chance romance.
The eBook is available for preorder on all major online book retailers, and the paperback will be ready very soon.

Romance Set in Norway

I’ve been wanting to write a series based in Norway, my adopted country, for quite a while. And here it is!
Into the Flood is Book 1 in my Seasons of Faith series of contemporary Christian romance. It’s set in Berghaven, a fictional composite of the small towns my family and I called home in Finnmark and Trøndelag.
I hope you’ll join me on a journey to visit with this group of friends, who were in the same wedding in their small Norwegian town over twenty years ago.
Four bridesmaids, and one bride. Now, two decades on, each woman learns that God’s timing is perfect as they find forever love later in life.
Read more about Into the Flood, and find where you can get your copy.
