Talking to so many parents, teachers, and school leaders opened my eyes to the diversity and variety in K-12 education. It was eye-opening, giving me new perspectives and an even greater motivation to write. Also, actually completing the manuscript, then editing it (and re-editing it, to the point where people told me I needed to just stop already!), and finally seeing it transform into an actual book was incredibly exciting.
