Book Collaboration - or: How to Heard Cats

My Dear Blog Readers.
You might have wondered why you didn't hear from me for a whole month?
The explanation is simple - I was busy. Very, very busy.

I joined a Book collaboration with the aim to write a chapter or two, to be published in a free book. I didn't know what to expect, or what it would be all about.

31 authors, working together to write a book that will blow your mind.
Hosted by Hargrove Perth, the collaboration soon took shape, with me suddenly in the middle of it.

I volunteered to help add, format, and later edit the contributed chapters. I honestly have to admit, it was much more work than expected. Don't worry, I loved doing this, even if it occasionally kept me up well after midnight.

I wouldn't want to miss the experience, it was exhilarating, mind-blowing, nerve-grating, soul-shattering all at once. But if you ask me if it was worth it - yes, every single minute of it! I want to do it again next year!!!

If you want to know more about the 31 Overlook hotel, and all 31 authors contributing to the story, join us on Facebook here:

It's published - and what now?

Uh, yeah. Marketing.

I've never been so completely at a loss before. How to get readers to see my book? No idea.
Okay, a Facebook page instead of just a profile might help.

What else? Quotes!
Readers like quotes. Small pieces of my book, like looking through a crack, seeing part of another world. So, that's what I tried. I made Quotes of the week, putting them up on my Facebook page.
I also locked into Instagram, putting them up there as well.

If you care to look at the quotes , they are now all easily accessible on Pinterest as well.

But, what does it help, if nobody looks at them?
What does it help, if nobody dares to comment on anything?
What...? Stop writing, give up?

Just because nobody is interested in what you do, you can't stop the words from making your brain burst with a splitting headache, until you allow them to spill out of your fingers, into the keyboard, onto the PC monitor.

So, instead of putting more effort into seemingly futile tries, I decided to write on my second book instead for a while, hoping for a miracle to occur.

First steps in a new world

When I started writing, I actually aimed for a short story. You know, better start small than never start at all. I never expected to end up writing a whole book. I never thought about publishing it, either, but there were people supporting me, telling me it was good enough. After learning my way around self-publishing platforms, the first, unedited edition was finally published in March.

I was lucky, I met TE Tim Blackburn on Facebook. He invited me to a new writers Guild, wassup-authors.

When I submitted my book for evaluation, he gave me four stars, told me that with professional editing, it could be more. Now, it received 5-Star reviews on amazon.

How it all began

All this started in October 2019, followed by the craziest months in my life. I’ve always loved reading, but never thought about writing before. It was triggered by a dream I couldn’t get out of my head. A switch was flipped inside my head. Suddenly all those words were there, inside me, pressing their way out.

I published a free fan-fiction short-story, "Blood Moon," playing in Aimee Easterling’s werewolf world, in October 2018 on AO3.

My pen-name Janina Carol (J.C.) Seal was created on Wed, Nov 14, 2018 at 10:32 AM. It was originally only created for the short story "Pool Party," I co-authored with Aimee Easterling. About the same time, I started writing "Fallen Angels".
