Live as a Golden Firebird
A firebird that soars upinto the azure sky . . .
I want to be that firebird
I want to be a firebird that lights up the world and makes it bright.
I want to be a golden firebird that gives hopes and dreams to all people.
A new world, new people—
I hope to be born in that world that so many people want.
Many people seek to go to a new world.
A world to where
those who are not yet born,
and those who have been born as well,
want to walk and run and fly.
I want to make that new world.
Anyone who has that dream
can become a firebird.
One who seeks to make such a world
is a golden firebird soaring through the azure sky
with a soul vibrant and free.
Fly up toward the LifeParticle Sun,
the center and source of all life,
and encounter a new world,
a new era, and a new people.
Discover a world of peace and harmony,
a people that knows and uses energy,
and a time when all hearts and minds are bright,
and limitless creation leads to spiritual completion
and eternal happiness and joy.
This is my dream that I will make a reality.
Is it your dream as well?

New Association for Youth Mental Health Focuses on Brain Education
By the Editor
On November 24, 2013, a well-attended event at Seoul National University in South Korea called the Creativity and Integrity Brain Education Outstanding Example Conference (English translation) accompanied the launch of the Youth Mental Health Character-Building Association. This association aims to promote Brain Education as alternative education and to restore mental health in the youth of Korea.
The event was attended by a former Korean prime minister and many other public officials as well as other figures renowned in their respective fields, including education, science, and medicine, and Brain Education instructors from around South Korea. It came on the tail of four Youth Mental Health Symposiums held this fall in Seoul, Daegu, Incheon Kyunggi, and Cheongju.
At this event, those in attendance took initiatives to actualize “education imbued with the Hongik spirit” as stated as a goal in the Basic Education Act of the Republic of Korea. The Hongik spirit is the traditional spirit of the Korean people that emphasizes personal integrity and the passive and active consideration of the benefit of all. This spirit is also a major concept in Ilchi Lee’s philosophy and methods, including Brain Education.
Ilchi Lee gave a speech at the event that emphasized that the key to youth character building lies in the brain. In his speech he also said:
“When I was young, I was not a good student. I didn’t study well. I couldn’t focus well, and I was a misfit. But when I started having conversations with my [true] self, I discovered my own precious value. When I knew about my value, I could be able to have hope. There is nothing more important than knowing one’s own value.
The current educational system of Korea focuses on acquiring knowledge, not developing the character of students. Students learn a lot about mathematics, physics, and chemistry, etc., in school, but not much about their own value.
We need to teach them how to discover their own value, and how great they are regardless their school grades. Brain Education is a solution for that. Brain Education is a new, alternative education for building character. If our students know about their brain well and use it well, they can choose and create what they want as the owner of their own brain.
The key to character-building education is to know their own value. And Brain Education can help make that happen. The reason I launched the Youth Mental Health Character-Building Association is to make real, positive changes in character-building education through Brain Education.
Every caterpillar has its beautiful wings inside. Our children have beautiful wings inside. We need to let them know they do. We need to help them know they can soar with their dreams. I hope the Youth Mental Health Character-Building Association can give the gift of a dream of a butterfly—the true value of themselves—to our children.”
The conference and the new association indicate Brain Education’s helpful influence on the lives of youth, which has also been exemplified in the results of Brain Education programs in schools in South Korea, the United States, El Salvador, Liberia, and the Philippines. Students participating in these programs have demonstrated improved attendance, focus, academic performance, character, and positive and cooperative attitudes.
Brain Education is currently taught to children and adults in for-profit and non-profit centers, schools, and community locations in eighteen countries worldwide, having gone from Korea to America, then to Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Russia, China (including Hong Kong), Israel, Brazil, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, Finland, El Salvador, Liberia, and the Philippines.

Know How to Use Your Brain Operating System to Transform Your Life
In this talk Ilchi Lee gave at Boston University for the premiere of his film, CHANGE: The LifeParticle Effect, he discusses how being aware of and focusing on our energy allows us to utilize our brain’s potential to the fullest.
Ilchi Lee Keynote: Know How to Use Your Brain Operating System to Transform Your Life
This past spring and summer, I toured the United States to speak at premieres of the film I produced, CHANGE: The LifeParticle Effect. One of the venues I enjoyed was Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts; the crowd was lively with a lot of energy. I was happy to explain to them the theory behind and application of your Brain Operating System (BOS). Everyone needs to know about the brain and how to use it. BOS is the interface through which you use your brain effectively. Learning how to use your BOS is essential for profound and lasting change.

Death, Life, and a New Perspective
Do you know how fast the Earth is? The speed at which the Earth circles the sun is thirty-three times that of a speeding bullet. Amazing isn’t it? I mention this because I think we have to understand the discrepancy between what we see, hear, and feel and what is actually happening on a larger scale. The planet seems to be still, but we are traveling through the universe on the Earth at a speed thirty-three times that of a bullet. What we see and feel is so incomplete.
That’s why I think we need to graft onto our ordinary thinking the perspectives of chemistry and physics and look at life on more macro and micro scales than our one life. For instance, take death.
Are you afraid of dying? Most people don’t want to die. Even those who say their lives are horrible would get very upset if you where inconsiderate enough to suggest their dying instead.
You die. I die. We all die. We die very slowly over the course of a hundred years. We are dying right now; it’s merely that we aren’t very aware of it. Why? Because it’s nothing at the moment. If pain slowly comes on us over a hundred years, then it is not pain. We cannot feel it. Pain isn’t pain if it comes slower than our ability to perceive it. If someone told you, “You’re going to die in a thousand years,” would you be afraid? Who would fear death, then? You’d just laugh it off.
And then, how do you think your last minute will be in the end as you die? It’s likely to be painful. Think about it; you’re hit by bullets for one minute. One minute may seem short, but in this situation, one minute is a long time. Dying would be less scary if it took one second. What if it took 0.00001 second? It would be the blink of an eye. Many things change depending on their speed.
What is the value of a human? What is life? What in the world is death? The significance of everything we experience changes when we continue to increase our speed. We are living now, but, in fact, we are not living. We are, in truth, dying.
By considering the significance of speed, our thoughts can become freer. Don’t be trapped in a small mold. We can freely expand and contract space and time through converting our perception of space and time.
While our bodies cannot transcend space and time, because they are trapped within them, our spirit can. Our view of the world changes once we know we have a spirit that transcends space and time and that is not bound by life or death.
Spirit is not something we can fully perceive with our senses. The energy of heaven, earth, and humanity gather to become spirit. And spirit has the energy of light, sound, and wave. Light, sound, and energy are the three great components of life.
Our life is greater than what we can perceive in our daily life. There is no need to be deluded by our senses if we remember that we are spirit. We are divine energy in connection with all life.
When you fully realize you are spirit, how do your expectations of life change? How do your expectations of how the world can be, change?

True Love
In doing energy meditation, you have the opportunity to experience nothingness, or the void, what is called Muah in Korean.Muah is a state beyond thought or emotion; it is the purest state. Often, you may feel joy when you get or do something you like. Or you may develop passion for something you want to possess or control. Letting go of these passions and attachments is Muah.
You may think, what’s the fun in living if you let go of your joy and passion? But being in a state of Muah holds so much more for you than passing joys or passions; it’s a way of being you cannot truly understand until you experience it.
However, there are two kinds of Muah. One is genuine Muah, and the other is the indeterminate void. The indeterminate void feels similar to true Muah; it is peaceful and comfortable, seemingly without attachment to people and things. However, you become so attached to that peace and comfort that you put it before everything else and try to protect it. You withdraw from people, you are not creative, and you ridicule those who passionately endeavor to change society. You believe that the truly enlightened only observe everything, that that is true detachment.
Even though someone in the indeterminate void knows that all is one, they do not fully experience it. On the other hand, those in the true void experience unconditional love and oneness with all in every circumstance. As a result, they are not afraid of others and work to improve themselves, help those around them, and better society because they live in the truth that they are all the same. They are not caught up in momentary emotions or whims, but live in a constant flow of love.
Have you experienced genuine Muah, true and complete love, even for a short time?

Meditation to Ignite Your Spirit and Light Up the World
I hope this meditation helps you bring out your passion for life, gives you hope, and brightens your day.Lift your head and hands toward the heavens and close your eyes. The light of Life, the energy of Life comes down and enters you through both hands and the top of your head. Connect the light of Life to all of your chakras. The blessings of heaven, the love of heaven comes down as the energy of Life, as bright and radiant light.
With this light, the factory for love and energy in your body, your 7 chakras, stir and begin to dance. Your physical body, energy body, and spiritual body are completely revitalized.
Your chakras receive the light of the universe, the energy of LifeParticles, and produce new energy. Your soul, awareness, and energy all become one with the universe.
Light and fragrance emanate from your chakras. The crimson light of passion from your first chakra, the scarlet light of creation from your second chakra, the orange light of life from your third chakra, the golden light of love from your fourth chakra, the green light of peace from your fifth chakra, the blue light of wisdom from your sixth chakra, and the violet light of completion from your seventh chakra envelope you with brilliant radiance, as you emit a rainbow of healing power.
