Find Inspiration Wherever You Are

In order to develop a meditation tour course in New Zealand, I recently explored Rotorua, the main tourist area of North Island.

While I was there, I visited the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Seeing these amazing caves reminded me of the Palace of Light in South Korea, also known as the Changdeokgung Palace, which is said to be the most traditional and authentic of Seoul’s five palaces.

I was also able to observe the traditions of the Maori tribe, because their culture is well preserved. The Maori conducted a welcome ceremony for tribe members like a play that’s made for audience participation, and they also shared the love story of their ancestors like a musical. In addition, with the typical Maori gesture that involves opening the eyes wide and sticking out the tongue, they showed their haka dances and movements by which warriors gathered their jung-ki-shin (body, energy, spirit) into one before going into battle.

Haka Dance

As I looked around the tourist area, I felt very strongly once again that Korea also needs preserve and honor its traditional culture, one that has been diluted or forgotten. For this purpose, I had founded the Institute of Korean Cultural Studies. However, seeing the traditional Maori dances, I think we need to come up with a musical that brings to life the traditions of the Dahngun era, an era characterized by a dynasty of forty-seven enlightened leaders.

Dahngun

Despite the fact that Korea enjoys diverse historical dramas and historical materials, why does it not have cultural material that deals with the glorious Dahngun era or the genesis story of the Budoji from earlier times? Celebrating the ways to enlightenment that Korea’s ancestors knew and lived by will help revive the soul and spirit of the people.

Wherever we go and whatever we do can be fuel and inspiration for our grandest dreams and ambitions. What is inspiring you today?

Want to Save the Earth and Humanity?

In a talk he gave at Yavapai College, Ilchi Lee speaks of the magic of Sedona and how it not only inspired his book, The Call of Sedona, but moved him to create the Earth Citizen School, where everyone can become a “Prodigy of Humanity,” and give back to their community and contribute to creating a better world.

The Soul of Sedona Inspires Change

In this excerpt from Ilchi Lee’s lecture at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) Lunch and Learn series at Yavapai College, Ilchi Lee talks about your soul and the soul of Sedona. His own ‘soul to soul’ meeting with that special place inspired him to create his first film: CHANGE: The LifeParticle Effect. This award-winning documentary teaches you how to manifest a new reality in your life and create change.

Sharing My Dream in New Zealand

Opportunities often arise if you keep looking for them and sharing your dream. When one Dahn Yoga member in the U.S. heard I was in New Zealand for the last couple of weeks searching for property that could be used as a meditation and training center, she contacted her grandmother who lives in New Zealand. Through a lot of quick communication and follow-through, she and my administrative staff organized an intimate screening of my educational film, CHANGE: The LifeParticle Effect. Last Wednesday evening, as I stood in front of the twenty-two people who had gathered at short notice, I was so grateful for their interest and presence.

I poured my heart into sharing my own story of personal development with them and into guiding them in mind-body training so that they could sense their own great potential and have hope for the future. I gave them a direct experience of sunlight meditation, music healing, and light healing. Although none of the participants had training experience, they responded with great enthusiasm and passion. After the lecture, I was flooded with questions about how they could do this training, how they could hear a lecture like this again, and what my future plans were. I directed them to ChangeYourEnergy.com, which has online classes based on Brain Education, and I also collected their e-mail addresses because they showed a lot of interest in my books.

I even introduced the idea of Earth Citizenship to them and showed them an “Earth Citizen Passport” that I had made ten years ago. I told them my dream of 100 million people who identify themselves as Earth Citizens who transcend the boundaries between religions and nations and share stewardship of the Earth as a core value. Taken together, Earth Citizens will form a kind of Spiritual United Nations (SUN). When the people of the Earth view the Earth as a whole, then we can manage the Earth’s resources as a whole, or engage in Earth Management.

I feel that this first screening of CHANGE in New Zealand is creating a new decade for that dream to come true. The essential factor for achieving it is insung, or human character, and insung youngjae—heroes who are gifted in terms of strength of character and integrity. That’s why I established the Benjamin School for Character Education in South Korea to help youth develop their character and integrity.

Once again, I feel that everything is ready, and the dream of Earth Citizenship and Earth Management is getting closer. That’s why I share this dream and Brain Education wherever I am and with whomever I meet.

What Is the Soul?

When asked the question, “What is the soul?”, many people may answer that it is love. However, love, as people normally think of it, is an emotion. Emotions arise from the body. They change and shift while the body is alive until the body dies. Emotions and our body are temporary configurations of energy.

If the soul is an emotion, then it is also temporary, but that does not seem right to me. In my experiences in meditation, I’ve encountered a pure, complete energy within me that is beyond all emotion. Those encounters came with an awareness that this energy does not change so easily.

Unlike our emotions, although the soul exists within our physical body, it is not derived from the body. The soul comes from divine energy, the source of everlasting life, which I call the LifeParticle Sun. The LifeParticle Sun is an expression of the complete brightness, the great life that is the root of the soul.

Having the same root, all souls are one, while at the same time being many. Souls can interact with and connect to one another. Although all people have a soul, souls are not separate from each other. The soul exists beyond all separation and boundaries.

While in the body, the soul can become polluted by hardships or negative experiences. However, because it is pure and complete energy from the LifeParticle Sun, it can never be hurt. No matter what hardship or scars or hurt you may suffer, no matter what pain you have to endure, it cannot affect your essence—your soul. Your soul is like a clear glass marble. In the course of your life, the outside of the marble may get covered in dust or paint, but the inside remains clear.

Though pure, the energy of the soul is subtle and difficult for our consciousness to perceive. When it gets covered by our emotional pain and attachments, “seeing” it becomes even more difficult. All we can make out if we even try to look for it are our scars. When our soul, the spark of everlasting life within us, is buried too deep, we may lose hope for our life and feel worthless. Also, the soul is then not able to be active and move freely.

20110630_ilchi-lee-enewsletter-meeting-the-lifeparticle-sunUnlike our body, which takes time to heal, our polluted soul can be cleaned easily. All it needs is to take a shower in the rays of the LifeParticle Sun from which it originated. Imagine golden LifeParticles clearing away the dark emotions around your heart chakra, where your soul is housed, and all the dirty “germs” and pollutants will be instantly purified away. So no matter how difficult your physical circumstances or conditions may be, when your mind meets with the LifeParticle Sun, then your soul becomes shining and glowing. Once it is, no matter how difficult your circumstances are, when you experience your sparkling and shining soul, then you have hope.

A shining soul is also experienced as conscience, which is the will to become true, as great compassion, which is the unconditional love toward all, and as the light of wisdom, which is insight into eternal truth. Those who have truly experienced their soul are peaceful, bold, and confident. They are peaceful because they know that their existence is eternal, indestructible wholeness, and they are bold and confident because they know their own absolute value lies in their pure and unchanging soul. That knowledge gives them a deep sense of satisfaction in which they are not envious of anyone. They can say confidently, “I am me,” and do not compare themselves to anyone else. The great, beautiful, true nature of humanity, its true character, therefore, is expressed through the soul.

That’s why, at the moment that you meet with your soul, you can feel the wildest ecstasy and bliss. There’s a certain something you encounter, and you realize how precious you are and become able to respect yourself.

I really wish that every person can have this experience.

Go for Your Goal at the Speed of Light

Ilchi-Lee_speed-of-light_20140401_newsletterWhen you work toward a goal, you’re bound to encounter countless limits. Faced with them, throw your shoulders back and open your chest even more confidently and move. Take action before you get caught up in your thoughts and worries. Tell yourself, “I’m going to get better through this opportunity. I am no longer who I was in the past!”

Move so fast without hesitation that you break the sound barrier. Without this speed, you cannot sustain your growth and accomplishment. Instead, you may avoid your goal or give up when things get difficult. You’ll slip into the habits of your past self.

However, if you break through the sound barrier, you’ll go toward your goal at the speed of light and meet your dazzling future self.

Although you have a human body, you can work “at the speed of light” because there is divinity inside your brain. When you act without over-thinking something or getting stuck in negative emotions, you tap into the creation energy of the universe in your brain stem—the LifeParticles that are not bound by time or space—which lies beyond your conscious thought. With your action and that divine power, energy flows at the speed of light toward the completion of your goal.

The Dream of Your Soul

Ilchi-Lee_dream-of-the-soul_20140325Why is the soul more precious than the physical body? It’s because the choices of the soul, the soul’s earnest dreams, create miracles.

That is the power of the soul.

Cherish your soul and give it your sincere devotion. That’s when your soul shines.

Even if you have just one day to live, if you feel the value of your soul and awaken your soul to live life for your soul’s completion, you are a humanitarian prodigy—a hero of humanity.

How do you make your soul a living and influential presence in your life? How do you give your soul devotion?

By giving your devotion to its dreams.

Focus on your heart chakra in the center of your chest, where your soul is housed in your body, and ask it what it wants. Ask it sincerely until you hear, see, or feel an answer. Then make your soul’s desire the dream of your life.

That’s how you live a beautiful existence.

New Zealand, New Hope

I have been in New Zealand for about a week, looking around diligently to pioneer a new hope for Brain Education in New Zealand, one of the last remaining areas of the planet known to humankind where the pristine beauty of the earth is uncorrupted. As I’ve met people and searched for properties on which to create a meditation and training center on this inspiring land, I have been having fun creating my hopes and dreams. My dream is a world where all people are healthy, happy, and peaceful, where they know they are precious souls and live with integrity while valuing all life. My dream gives my life meaning; I hope to be an example of someone who creates a meaningful existence.

Ilchi Lee in New Zealand

To my left is my trusted assistant, Kab Seong Lee, and to my right is Simon Kim.

Already, my time here has been productive. I met a man named Simon Kim who studied Dahnhak (known as Dahn Yoga in the United States) in Korea twenty years ago and was very active as a young member. He immigrated to New Zealand fifteen years ago, but he always kept the spirit of Dahnhak in his heart. So when I saw him in Auckland during my visit, he accepted my cause as his own and agreed to be the director of an Institute of Korean Cultural Studies in Auckland. (The original branch is in Mokcheon, South Korea.)

One potential property for the meditation center that we visited together has a large house that has a wide-open view, with trails and space for outdoor training. The rooms and living room are spacious, so as I walked around, imagining how it would be to use them as an office for spreading the study of traditional Korean culture (Kookhak), on which Brain Education is based, as well as Brain Education itself, and as an incubator for the future of humanity, I automatically felt excited with each step I took.

The next house we visited was designed by the owner himself. On the outside, it looked ordinary enough to be a school, but like its refreshingly down-to-earth owner, it was built to be comfortable and with wide-open spaces. It was imbued with the energy of a healthy family that worked hard to save money and build their house up, one section at a time.

As we also looked at other houses that had comfortable views and had been thoughtfully designed, I imagined there the countless insung youngjae, the heroes who would train together in this space to develop themselves and solve the problems of the planet.

Although my dream is an ambitious one, decisions must always be made carefully. Not only did I take into consideration the energy given by the land, but I inquired thoroughly about the cost of development, the distance from town, and even what insects or animals could come out of the woods.

I’ll continue to spend the next few days in New Zealand on this journey to find a space where we can build a better future for humanity. Taking care of this on top of keeping up with other work makes me busy, but it’s more fun and exciting than watching any spectacular show. That’s because it’s the process of picturing a dream coming true.

Just as Simon decided to work with us this time, I hope that there will be more and more people who join me in a life of dreaming and manifestion.
