I do a lot more research than I use because I like to be as accurate as possible, but when writing/ editing I apply the 'iceberg' principle - that is, only the tip of it should show in the final edit. Readers want a romance, they don't want a dry history lesson.

I do enjoy the research and it sparks ideas for future stories too, so it's never wasted!
