Margaret Walsh, Sherlock Holmes and the Molly-Boy Murders

“But I learned something else that night. That Doctor John H. Watson has the most deceptive appearance of all. An iron resolve and a great heart in the body of a gentle and unassuming man.”
Margaret Walsh, Sherlock Holmes: Tales from the Stranger's Room - Volume 3

“We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.”
Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

“Phryne was getting out of the car. Dot closed her eyes. Miss Fisher was about to happen to someone again.”
Kerry Greenwood, Dead Man's Chest

“I mused for a few moments on the question of which was worse, to lead a life so boring that you are easily enchanted, or a life so full of stimulus that you are easily bored.”
Bill Bryson, The Lost Continent

“Sherlock: If the occasional pile of clutter offends you, by all means move it.
John: Last time I tried that I was bitten by a large spider you appeared to be using as a bookmark.”
