“The best work that anybody ever writes is the work that is on the verge of embarrassing him, always.”
― Arthur Miller

My stories hope to shed light on the power and courage of women, demonstrating the greatness that society and even ourselves can reduce. I appreciate self-aware characters who make choices based on what they want and not out of need. Layered and truthful, I strive to create thought-provoking scenarios and people you'll admire or despise. A romantic at heart, an honest happy ending is my favorite way to close.

I bear to you my imagination in black and white.

I love being a part of the book club! They are a brilliant group of women (most are educators), who have just as varied taste in literature as cuisine. It's a great experience because I read different genre's and every month the food is outstanding - sometimes book theme based.

Anyway, what' WE'RE reading...I don't know. My personal list includes Friend Request by Laura Marshall and Hippie by Paulo Coelho.

Leisure reading heavily depends on my writing and editing schedule as I was told by an experienced author that it's better not to read other writer's fiction while you're writing because their style may bleed into your own. I'm torn about this as I believe my writing style is a part me but mainly the influences I've had through reading. When I'm writing a story, I'm usually immersed, there isn't time for much else. If I'm not working, I need to do something unrelated, like binge-watch Succession...(less)

When she awoke, she stumbled into the bathroom and to her horror, the youthful expression she held yesterday was replaced by the gnarled face of an elderly woman. (less)

Looking Up - Grandma and the Butterfly

Today my grandmother visited me. She’s been gone for many years and we haven’t spoken but once since she passed. When I was a little girl, we stayed with my grandparents for a while after moving across country. I loved being at their house. Everything about life there felt welcome. One morning, Grandma called me outside to the porch. She pointed toward the brick red painted ceiling and showed m... Read more of this blog post »
