Titles vs Titles

Recently, my husband contributed to a conservation society in Scotland where we plan to do a great deal of hiking (hillwalking). Due to his contribution, they gave both of us several plots of land and titles to go with them. We are styled the Laird and Lady of Glencoe & Lochaber, or Lady Paige Edwards. (Don’t be impressed. About 100,000 other peeps carry that title too). In Scotland, on certain historical estates, the titles go with the land, not the people. That’s how this came about. So, when this group broke up the estate to promote conservation in an area we love, we got landed with a few extra perks.
Taking a flight of fancy here. Since my stories include British aristocracy, if one of my characters came to life, they would outrank me in the order of precedence:). Hahaha

Swoonies and Gingerbread

One of our littles' all-time favorite holiday traditions is making gingerbread houses. These aren't the pretty ones you see on social media. Only a mother could love our family's creations. Trust me. They're ugly. We do the ugly sweater thing at our place; maybe we should add ugly gingerbread houses to the mix. What do you think? Yay? or Nay? What kind of traditions does your family enjoy during the holidays?

On another note, while the hubs and I were out-of-state to celebrate my in-laws' 70th Wedding Anniversary, I received word that my novel, Danger on the Loch (mystery romance), is a Swoony Awards finalist. I was stunned and am still pinching myself. This is super exciting. Guys, the competition for this is FIERCE, with thousands of votes being cast per round!!!

Voting deadline is December 31st. Check out all the great books, and vote for your favorites on The Swoony Awards' Facebook page.

MI6 Agents need gadgets

My father loved James Bond movies. Whenever a JB movie came out at the theatre, we saw it. Naturally, when I became an author, I had to write a story with at least one MI6 agent. Facing the Enemy, my soon-to-be-released novel (April 4th, 2022), has two agents who needed something cool to play with. (James Bond can't have all the fun, right?) I wanted something fresh, that had never been used before--and it needed to be UK specific. An English friend shared early mountain rescue and military trials taking place in in the UK (Jet suits were in developmental stages at this point). Giddily, I dove headfirst down the research rabbit hole and located an electronic patent for a jet engine. (when writing, plausibility issues can arise if they're too far fetched). So, I modified the gas-fueled prototypes that were in development. Voila! One of my main characters has a shiny new toy.
