Amanda Giorgis

Goodreads Author

in Bridgwater, The United Kingdom

Member Since
September 2018

Amanda Giorgis was born in Somerset, England and started her working life in teaching. She emigrated to New Zealand in 2008 and moved to the beautiful Mackenzie Basin.

Amanda writes while looking out onto the flat plain with snow-capped mountains beyond. It is a place where it is easy to find inspiration for stories of early pioneers, who made this unique place their home.

She shares her home with her husband, Terry and three rescued huntaway dogs, Nemo, Jess and Ted, some chickens, who are more ornamental than productive, two acres of wild garden and the dark skies of the Southern Hemisphere.

The Wideawake Hat is Amanda’s first novel, and the first book in the Applecross Saga.

Writers love libraries. Where else can you browse shelves of lovely books to your heart’s content, sit quietly in a comfy chair and read whatever you want, ask questions which lovely librarians are only too happy to answer?

So I was very pleased indeed to have a request recently for some copies of The Wideawake Hat for Timaru District Library. Apart from some copies for people to b...
