It's Just A Job. Part 3, Demons

Demons

Demon Drum 213x300 It's Just A Job. Part 3, DemonsWikipedia says that:

In religion and mythology, occultism and folklore, a demon (or daemon, daimon; from Greek daimôn) is a supernatural being that is generally described as a malevolent spirit; however, the original neutral connotation of the Greek word daimon does not carry the negative one that was later projected onto it, as Christianity spread.

In Ancient Near Eastern religions as well as in the derived Abrahamic traditions, including ancient and medieval Christian demonology, a...

And Bullets Flew Everywhere…

1270745475 smoking gun 240x300 And Bullets Flew Everywhere...In romantic suspense it's pretty common to have at least one gun fired, if not more. If the heroine isn't in jeopardy, she's the kick-ass kind, and likely to be be the one doing the firing.

It makes for grand fiction, and helps raise your heart rate as you read it.

Fact is, a real gun fight is almost placid in comparison.

It takes a lot of shouting and anger and emotion for humans to get to the point of actually firing a gun, because most of us know that once you pull a gun, you have to fire it ...

Vampire Powers – Part 3: Creatures of The Night

Power of the Sun 225x300 Vampire Powers – Part 3: Creatures of The Night Vampire PowersPart 3: Creatures Of The Night

Vampires have been referred to as "creatures of the night" throughout fiction for decades, and with reason. In most fictional universes, they only rise at night.  I remember watching the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula starring Gary Oldman in the '90′s and being shocked when Dracula walked the streets of London in daylight.  But it's hard to argue with Bram Stoker, one of the original vampire fiction masters.

Vampires have also been called the Princes...

Dalton Diaz Gets To Chat With Us Next Friday

Strokes 181x300 Dalton Diaz Gets To Chat With Us Next FridayEllora's Cave author Dalton Diaz has what must be one of the most delectable covers at EC this year.  I love, love, love guys that are so super-fit they have that ridge of muscle around the pelvis, running down into their jeans. Mmmmmmm.  And this one is Latino, too.  What a deadly combination!  Holy momma!

I'm pretty sure the model on the cover is Angelo, but I look forward to asking Dalton that next Friday, when she join us to talk about her new book, Strokes, that she co-authored with...

DESTINY'S TRINITIES Excerpt Series. BETH'S ACCEPTANCE, Part 1

bethsacceptance msr 182x300 DESTINYS TRINITIES Excerpt Series. BETHS ACCEPTANCE, Part 1As it's time to start a new series and last week I finished a romantic suspense series, I thought I'd swap over to erotic urban fantasy romance.  Destiny's Trinities is the first urban fantasy romance Teal Ceagh published and is a trilogy of MMF novellas.

I thought I'd try something a little bit different with this series of excerpts.  Instead of just running sexy excerpts, I'll run two from each book:  An "interesting" excerpt, and then a sexy one.  The interesting excerpt could be something ...

Why Should Historical Characters Sound Like They're Speaking Funny In Historical Novels?

2931856207 70b4bd8097 b 300x225 Why Should Historical Characters Sound Like Theyre Speaking Funny In Historical Novels?

The Rosetta Stone

I was culling some reviews the other day and came across an old one for one of my historicals and a phrase caught my eye.  I'll have to paraphrase.  It went something along the lines of "…and the characters spoke modern English.  They didn't even sound like they were in an historical novel!"

Clearly the review wasn't a glowing, positive one.  And yes, I do keep all my reviews, even the nasty ones.  There's always something to learn from them.

In this particular case, it...

9 Reasons Why Paranormal Romance Heroes Are Better Than Romantic Suspense Heroes

vampire3 9 Reasons Why Paranormal Romance Heroes Are Better Than Romantic Suspense HeroesA little while ago I wrote a post called "7 Reasons Why Romantic Suspense Heroes Are Better Than Paranormal Heroes", as I write both romantic suspense and paranormal romance/urban fantasy romance.

Here's the reverse of that post.

1. They live in the real world, more or less.

Sometimes.  Depending on who you're reading and what genre you're reading.  That's the beauty of paranormal heroes…they can live anywhere they damn well please, really.    Often, they've been around so damn long, compound i...
