(Not that there's anything wrong with romance.) It is my sincere hope that it as as "can't-put-it-down" for you as the others. It is my personal goal to get better with each book I write. So I do hope that's the case. Of course, only my readers can judge that. So, I'll keep my fingers crossed that CRAZY LOVE YOU keeps you up all night, turning the pages.

In the meantime, I'm so glad you are enjoying the books. And thanks for your support of IN THE BLOOD. It means so much to me.

Cheers,

Thanks for reading -- or rather listening! I hope you enjoy The Hollows stories.

An idea or inspiration can come from anything really—a line from a poem, a news story, even a photograph—that is the seed for a new novel. And if that seed finds fertile ground in my subconscious, I start hearing voices. It’s always a character voice that pulls me into (and through) a novel. Plot flows from the characters, who they are, what’s going on in their lives and how they’re dealing with it.

Thanks for reaching out, Rosie!(less)

Written in 1959, this is the mother of all haunted house stories. And in 2017, it will still scare the bejeezus out of you. A masterful, subtle, keep-you-up-all-night, then sleep-with-the-lights on read.

More of Lisa's books…
“When you start to really know someone, all his physical characteristics start to disappear. You begin to dwell in his energy, recognize the scent of his skin. You see only the essence of the person, not the shell. That's why you can't fall in love with beauty. You can lust after it, be infatuated by it, want to own it. You can love it with your eyes and body but not your heart. And that's why, when you really connect with a person's inner self, any physical imperfections disappear, become irrelevant.”
Lisa Unger, Beautiful Lies

“I think most people are just trying to be happy, and that most of their actions, however misguided, are in line with that goal. Most people just want to feel they belong somewhere, want to be loved, and want to feel they're important to someone. If you really examine all the wrongheaded and messed-up things they do, they can most often be traced back to that basic desire. The abusers, the addicted, the cruel and unpleasant, the manipulators --these are just people who started this quest for happiness in the basement of their lives. Someone communicated to them through word or deed that they were undeserving, so they think they have to claw their way there over the backs of others, leaving scars and creating damage. Of course, they only create more misery for themselves and others.”
Lisa Unger, Sliver of Truth

“I can get my head turned by a good-looking guy as much as the next girl. But sexy doesn't impress me. Smart impresses me, strength of character impresses me. But most of all, I am impressed by kindness. Kindness, I think, comes from learning hard lessons well, from falling and picking yourself up. It comes from surviving failure and loss. It implies an understanding of the human condition, forgives its many flaws and quirks. When I see that in someone, it fills me with admiration.”
Lisa Unger, Beautiful Lies

Jeannie Faulkner Barber Thanks Lisa for the add. You have such talent! If you have time, I'd love for you to visit my web site, jeanniebarber.com. I'm a novice writer so feel free to make any kind of suggestions, ideas or thoughts to correct it. I’m co-authoring a novel with Patty Wiseman, another friend on Goodreads. We’ve known each other for over 30 years. While you're there, please sign the guestbook, too! There’s also a link to our book you can click on…clairkelley@synthasite.com. This site is brand new and in the editing stage as is our story. Please visit it as well. We’re both very green, but we’ve met so many people on this site willing to reach out and offer advice or a guiding hand.
Blessings,
Jeannie

Courtney Lisa,

Don't want to finish "Black Out" because it's so brilliant. The parent/child relationships are so insightful and scarily accurate. Genius!

Peace, courtney

Courtney Lisa,

Now that we're friends on myspace, facebook and goodreads I don't think I'll ever miss a bit of what you write!

I got "Black Out" in the post the day it came out thanks to amazon's pre-order and I've moved you to the top of my ever-expanding 'to read' pile. I bumped "The Reapers" by John Connolly and "Snuff" by Chuck P., but I'm only half finished with the the latest Elizabeth George "Careless in Red" AND I finally got my own writing groove back! I can't wait to read your book, but I have to take some time to get there so they all get the attention they deserve.

I hope you've hit the ground running and "Black Out" has been flying off shelves of every book store!

Peace,
courtney
