A Message To My Sons
[image error]
I hope you never seek validation from others in any aspect of your life
I hope you are confident in your desires and remain true to your personal passions
I hope you cling to wonder and curiosity
I hope you recognize your power to manifest an intentional and tranquil life
I hope you are capable of being happy for others
I hope you understand that gratification is fleeting, as is every emotion and moment
I hope you find peace in simplicity
I hope you transform this world, but do not become lost in the trend
I hope you stand in the rain and still enjoy getting wet
I hope you gain insight from those you encounter and embody lifelong learning
I hope you cry when you are sad
I hope you cry when you are joyous
I hope you speak with eloquence and love
I hope you gaze at the moon in admiration
I hope you accept the journey of LIFE with ease and calm
I hope you choose tolerance
I hope you travel to seek, not travel to tourist
I hope you help people without expectations or applause
I hope you demonstrate patience
I hope when you experience deep sadness you have the courage to redirect your life
I hope you appreciate the value of time and never allow money to consume you
I hope you can sleep without melatonin, and survive a day without caffeine
I hope you rest when you are tired
I hope you strive when you are capable
I hope you smile when you think of me
My wish for you…I am hopeful

Motherhood Unplugged
Giving birth twice in two years caused me to lose myself. My sense of SELF.
I was pregnant, a new(exhausted) mom, pregnant again, not eating well, not exercising enough and emotionally drained. Every new mom can relate.
While also grieving the loss of my sister during my second pregnancy, everything became a distraction from SELF. I gained over 50 pounds, and no longer cared much about my appearance. However, Tai will be 3 in August and I finally feel the shedding of my previous identity, doubt, and insecurity. I’m beginning to heal. I crave the outdoors!
To be outside, to be active and embrace LIFE with my sons.
This is my attempt at #MotherhoodUnplugged

Hiking with Tai at the Greenway. Two miles in and he’s tired.
Being a mom of a child with special needs has become a learning experience beyond words for me. My sons developmental delays ignited an involuntary tolerance within me, a growth I didn’t know I was capable of.
An unfolding of patience, forgiveness, love, and empathy for others. I’ve always aimed to remain mindful of humanity as a whole, but observing my son struggle to speak, hit himself, chew on almost everything; while also staring off into the sky to watch the clouds, has given me a new perspective on acceptance. We must accept what we are given, we do not have the power to change everything. This isn’t to say one shouldn’t be accountable. We should, and can, choose to lean toward healthy evolving within our lives, but along with this one must adapt and tolerate what cannot be changed.
I can’t magically fix him, and only parents of children with disabilities will understand this type of unreal patience & acceptance. I carry with me much more compassion and respect for anyone struggling with the daily impact of a disability or illness.
I am Grateful
Blessed to have healthy, active, and able children.
We can never take these things for granted.
What some may identify as a weakness, we’ll regard as an adaptability test.
To overcome and thrive.
LIVE. IN. GRATITUDE.

Gazing Upward. I wasn’t going to share this image, often too concerned with superficial social network illusion, but I’m thrilled when he is FULL OF JOY.
The comparison/struggle police will always feel the need to pass judgement, but I’m not writing a self-help book or trying to tell people how to live.
I’m simply sharing and seeking an open-authentic life, rooted in mindful living, dreaming, doing, and pure experiences. I plan to surround myself with like-minded individuals that pursue joy within their own lives, embracing their OWN journey and in turn are capable of genuinely being happy for others.
Be Mindful. Be Present. Be Grateful.

Love Wins
“Americans began exchanging hand-made valentines in the early 1700s. In the 1840s, Esther A. Howland began selling the first mass-produced valentines in America.
Howland, known as the “Mother of the Valentine,” made elaborate creations with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as “scrap.” Today, according to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year, making Valentine’s Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year.”

Motherhood
Becoming a parent forces you to release the majority of any self-serving behavior and I’m forever grateful for the responsibility. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to raise two humans; which is both terrifying and thrilling.
As mothers we can only hope to guide our children into becoming well-rounded, kind, sincere, confident and loving beings.
They came into this world pure, genuine and full of JOY.
I hope to keep their LIGHT this way for as long as possible.
How fortunate are we as parents?
I’m continuously learning how to express and nurture this intense unconditional LOVE.
