Brian is an American fantasy author. Blood of an Exile is his debut novel, and the first in The Dragons of Terra series. The sequel, Sorcery of a Queen, will be published in August, 2020.

Brian grew up in Maryland but hates crab-cakes. He now lives in Colorado.

When he's not writing, he’s usually griping about video games on Twitter, hiking with his dog, Lola, or whitewater kayaking in the mountains. The last activity makes his mother very nervous.

Hey Alaina,

At least two more. The sequel, SORCERY OF A QUEEN, hits bookshelves August 4th, 2020 in the US (August 6th in the UK). I am also hard at work on Book III. No firm pub date (or title) on that quite yet, but I'm nearly finished with my first draft, so I won't keep readers waiting too long.

Beyond those three, things are a bit more up the air. The plan is to definitely resolve the main storylines by the end of the trilogy, but I'd be open to spending more time in the realm of Terra down the line if it worked out.

Hi Paulette,

Thanks for reading Blood of an Exile! I am hard at work on the sequel. The first draft is complete and I'm currently working through edits to get everything perfect. While nothing is set in stone, the plan is to release the sequel in 2020, so you won't have to wait too long.

Best,

Looking back on 2019....

Wow. It has been a year.

Some amazing things happened. A few not-so great events. And in general, 2019 was a whirlwind for me. I’ll start with the cool stuff:

2019 Awesome Events:

1. HOLY SHIT MY FIRST BOOK GOT PUBLISHED.

2. Blood of an Exile was also named a “Best Book of the Year” by Kirkus and Amazon. A Twitter alert woke me up with the news, and I truly thought it was a dream at the time.

I fell in love with Kinch on page one. He's a hilarious narrator and I was also touched by his sensitivity. Christopher's world building is unique, precise, and masterfully woven into a page-turning story. I couldn't put it down.

I read The Reapers Are the Angels quite a few years ago, but I remember exactly my feelings on it after I finished:

"That was badass."

I dug the southern-gothic style writing applied to a zombie apocalypse. I dug the tightly-woven adventure and action.

We Are the Dead is awesome. Memorable characters. One of the most sadistic villains I've ever encountered. Tightly woven action scenes that feel like something you'd see in a Micheal Mann film. I was gripped and loving it the entire time.
