Michelle Heidenrich Barnes is an award-winning children's poet, anthologist, and teacher. Her poetry appears in The Poetry of US (National Geographic), One Minute Till Bedtime (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers), and Great Morning! Poems for School Leaders to Read Aloud (Pomelo Books), among others. Her blog, Today's Little Ditty, is a poetry playground featuring writing tips, interviews with authors and editors, and monthly poetry challenges for anyone with a passion for wordplay. To date Michelle has edited two volumes of The Best of Today's Little Ditty which can be used to practice creative writing with students or on your own. Find good light,
perfect angles.
Blur your focus,
soften scars,
furrows of frowns,
deep crow’s feet.
Catch a dazzling
twinkle of mischief
in sunlit eyes, bright
smile on pouty lips.
Pause a moment.
Ready…
set...
click your shutter.
