But I can say the main character will be a nurse...and it's not Hot Justin from A STORIED LIFE. Although I would like to give him his own story someday, this next novel will be a standalone.

I'm excited to interview a bunch of my friends who are nurses and delve deep into what their work is like, the highs and lows and how this spills into their personal lives. (less)

The release day for A Storied Life is finally here!

I'm an official novelist and I'm so giddy about having written a novel that people can actually buy and read.

The idea first came to mind nine or ten years ago and it took until early 2010 before I started writing the first words. Fun fact: those first few thousand words eventually got moved to chapter 3.

I still remember my amazement wh...

Leigh Kramer and 1 other person liked Xan West's status update
Xan West
Xan West is 99% done with All or Nothing: I loved this, for so many reasons. The heroine's grandmother was a converso, and she is trying to reclaim her Jewish identiity, and struggling with that, and it was just wonderful to read a romance that held the complexities of that struggle. Also, I loved all the layers of stuff in this story about consent, not just the kinky bits, but so much of the story was about consent and that gave me so many feels.

This magical realism tale was so much darker than I was expecting! That's not a bad thing but I want people to go in with their eyes wide open. It would have benefitted from being more focused, as I was left with a lot of questions. But it's a book t ...more

More of Leigh's books…
“I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.”
Dawna Markova, I Will Not Die an Unlived Life: Reclaiming Purpose and Passion

Tahereh Mafi
“I spent my life folded between the pages of books.
In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”
Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

Tahereh Mafi
“Hope is hugging me, holding me in its arms, wiping away my tears and telling me that today and tomorrow and two days from now I will be just fine and I'm so delirious I actually dare to believe it.”
Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

Tahereh Mafi
“I always wonder about raindrops.

I wonder about how they're always falling down, tripping over their own feet, breaking their legs and forgetting their parachutes as they tumble right out of the sky toward an uncertain end. It's like someone is emptying their pockets over the earth and doesn't seem to care where the contents fall, doesn't seem to care that the raindrops burst when they hit the ground, that they shatter when they fall to the floor, that people curse the days the drops dare to tap on their doors.

I am a raindrop.

My parents emptied their pockets of me and left me to evaporate on a concrete slab.
Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me

Tahereh Mafi
“Hope is a pocket of possibility.
I'm holding it in my hand.”
Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me
