I think one of the best pieces of advice I heard was; 'if you are stuck - you've gone in the wrong direction, go back - refocus - take a different path, have your character make a different decision. etc.'
There are many reasons you can be blocked. Maybe you need to do more research because you are not as knowledgeable about the thing you are trying to write about, so it's not flowing. Maybe you've been overworking your creative brain and it just needs some time off. Maybe you are overwhelmed by the content and you just need to do some writing practice that is unrelated to your current WIP. With Out of the Ashes, I thought I had writer's block for ages, I thought maybe the first three chapters were standalone, that it was a short story - but the truth was, the 'blockage' was about timing. I hadn't lived what I needed to live to write the story that needed to be written. Once I had, I knew Grace, I knew her story, and I felt every word as I poured it out on to the page. Whatever you do, don't stop writing - just shake it up a bit.(less)

I have this mad respect for the incredible transformational power of words, and I am proud to be a part of creating something that people can carry into their dark places, into the quiet places they don't allow anybody to enter. A place where words can breathe life, truth and encouragement, where there may be a lack. The best part of being a writer is pouring myself out onto the page, giving it everything I have, and then hearing the amazing testimonies from my readers about how much they were impacted by the story.
That is where the magic is.(less)
