Karel Jan Kosman was born free-spirited in Prague at the center of the ancient Celtic Boii homeland—that is, Bo-hemia. The Czech and Slovak Republics are now free, loved by their citizens and visitors alike, but after WWII, former Czechoslovakia enjoyed that freedom only for three short years. Freshly liberated from a terror plaguing its western neighbor, the country fell under the same from the east. As an antidote to social engineering, Karel turned to independent thinkers like Jonathan Swift, Franz Kafka, Karel Čapek, Stanisław Lem. Those giants of social science fiction wrote to put their societies before a mirror, to open the minds of their contemporaries.
