Brennan's debut novel, Fathers' Day was published in 2018 and won recognition from the Indie Book Awards and Writer's Digest.

Prior to dropping out to write Fathers' Day, he lived the predictable life of an emerging author: field picker, garbage man, barn builder, blues musician, art teacher and creative director writing copy for national brands and why you need them – fresh breath, clear skin, a great lawn. Encouraged by readers and the industry, he is at work on his second and third novels. He has attended Kutztown, Temple and Stanford Universities and lives in Northern California with his wife and two daughters.

I found this hard to put down. The story comes at you from all sides and the characters had me in the palms of their hands. Unique form, language, tragedy and humor. The repartee between Maurice and Charlie is priceless.

As ever, beautiful language and a significant and colorful cast. And, Walnut Creek was mentioned as well as a nod to Rivendell Bicycles (in Walnut Creek).
