You get the leeway to construct those realities through different situations whose outcomes you can control as a writer. In other words, you can't necessarily control situations and people in real life, but you can do so as a writer! That can perhaps be construed as a form of escapism, and I do think that escapism is intrinsic to human existence. You get to give that urge for escapism a lot more leeway as a writer.

I also enjoy exploring the depths of the human psyche - the extremes of pain, tragedy, sadism, joy, love, spirituality and courage. (less)

To find your unique voice, it is important to drop all the masks that we sometimes tend to wear as we assume various roles in society. To be a good writer, it's paramount to be one's real self and bare one's soul. It's also good to stay abreast of current news and developments, historical events, etc., and read various genres and formats voraciously. Traveling also helps, if you get a chance to do so. When I say traveling, I don't mean the regular tourist's travel--but rather exploring the less explored areas, venturing deep into the unknown and absorbing the vibe of the place and its people. To be a writer, one must be ready to leap off one's comfort zone.(less)

"As the name suggests, this book is a hair raising thriller. The author is an erstwhile resident of the UK, hence her description of the neighborhoods of London and suburbs are so vivid and detailed. The book is really smart, witty and full of suspens" Read more of this review »
