Hello, I'm Chris Lofts, the author of the Nathan Helix Thriller Series including book one: Helix Genesis and book two: Helix Nexus. I also have two stand alone thrillers: Life Untenable and Restitution.

Previously, I worked as an IT Project Manager and I started writing when commuting and "living" in hotels while away with my job. I came relatively late to writing but always felt I had a book or two in me. I love action, psychological and thrillers so it seemed natural to me to write in the same genres. Now, having hung up my project plan, I spend most of my days writing and marketing my work which is a labour of love.

Can't remember who said it but I am sure I read that someone's advice was to have someone walk into a room with a gun and surprise one of your characters. The other bit of advice I remember was that if you know your characters as well as your best friend they'll help you find your way.(less)

The thing I like best is being able to spend time with my characters and see what they get up to, how they respond to situations I create for them, how they feel about their experiences. It's often easy to ask how you would feel about something, someone or a situation but in my case, I am not my characters so it was a challenge particularly as both of my main characters in What Secrets May Say are young women.(less)

"Great read with interesting twists

A few possible plot holes become fairly obvious early in the book, however the story never loses the nagging sense that something else is going to happen. Holes filled with a beautiful twist. " Read more of this review »
