Friday Gladheart writes for many Pagan, Wiccan, and secular publications. For decades she has written and illustrated the beloved Practical Witch's Almanac. She spends most of her time making special blends for clients in her Practical Witch Apothecary, teaching, writing, counseling, and developing an organic teaching garden and sanctuary near the oldest National Forest in the southern United States. When possible, she is on tour for book signing appearances, workshops, and classes in Witchcraft, tarot, and herbalism. In 1996 she founded WitchAcademy.org*, the oldest and most highly respected online academy for Witchcraft, tarot, and magical herbalism.

I have found ways to manage these blocks by staggering deadlines on a variety of projects.

One manuscript may be due in 45 days while another project has 200 days.
When I'm blocked on the closer deadline due to anxiety, I step away from that project for a day. For that day I force myself to relax, meditate, and affirm that I can accomplish my goals. Then I will work on a project with a more distant deadline to give myself a break.

Working on a variety of projects is helpful to switch from linear thinking to creative thinking. When writing is just not falling into place, I spend some time on research, taking classes, gardening, or experimenting in the herbal lab or kitchen.

When I return the next day to the closer deadline project, I am refreshed, motivated and have a more clear perspective.(less)

The question I am asked most often is, “What books do you recommend for a beginner Witch, or to give my practice a boost?”.  My gut response is all of them, but of course we are all limited by time and money to varying degrees.  Those who asked me this question twenty years ago received a shortlist of high-quality books but, as the community has grown there are many new titles that are more

Rusty Nugent Greetings,

Hopefully, we will become great buddies. I am an 42 year old southern gentleman author. I am working on my third novel. It's an paranormal, horror, adventure, magical, romantic, urban, dark fantasy book series, named Moonwarriors: In An Blackened Dawn. Take a look at my second novel Moonwarriors: Guardians of the Night. They are about heroic werewolves waging war against evil supernatural creatures. Come by and we'll chat, leave a comment.

Until Next Time . . .
