A teen during the '80s paperback horror boom, Will Errickson discovered Lovecraft, King, Barker, Campbell, Machen, Jackson, Etchison, et al, while in high school. In college he worked in a used bookstore which strengthened his love of vintage paperbacks (of many genres) and deepened his appreciation for horror. In early 2010, Errickson began the blog Too Much Horror Fiction, devoted to collecting, reviewing, and celebrating the best (and worst) in paperback horror and its resplendent cover art from the 1960s through the early 1990s. With Grady Hendrix in 2017 he co-wrote the Bram Stoker Award-winning book PAPERBACKS FROM HELL: THE TWISTED HISTORY OF 1970s & 1980s HORROR FICTION, which featured many of Errickson's books from his own paperbac ...more

Nine Horrors and a Dream by Joseph Payne Brennan (1958): The Goo Goo Muck

When it comes to pulp horror fiction, I don't think there's any doubt that "Slime" is one of the perfect gems of the style. Originally published in a 1953 issue of the venerated magazine "Weird Tales," Joseph Payne Brennan's 30-odd page tale is rife with all the weaknesses and all the glories of pulp horror in full flower. Emmett F. Fields
“Atheism is more than just the knowledge that gods do not exist, and that religion is either a mistake or a fraud. Atheism is an attitude, a frame of mind that looks at the world objectively, fearlessly, always trying to understand all things as a part of nature.”
Emmett F. Fields

Harlan Ellison
“You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant.”
Harlan Ellison

Clive Barker
“[Horror fiction] shows us that the control we believe we have is purely illusory, and that every moment we teeter on chaos and oblivion.”
Clive Barker

Carl Sagan
“I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But as much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.”
Carl Sagan, Billions & Billions: Thoughts on Life and Death at the Brink of the Millennium

Richard Dawkins
“...when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.”
Richard Dawkins
