Poem #644
I want to sew a dress
but not just any dress
it has to have pockets
maybe even ten pockets
it has to be green
but not just any green
green with a touch of blue
frilly trim that’s blue
it’s got to go to my knees
but not past my knees
the sleeves have to be loose
but not too loose
that’s why I want to sew a dress
no one sells my kind of dress
Poem #642
chicken
oh you wonderful meat
make eyes light
make dogs fight
Poem #641
day 1:
she is born
ugly and beautiful
mother kisses her
she has no father
day 1,936:
she is dressed-up
frilly and crisp
mother kisses her
brother screams from the car
day 5,171:
she is nervous
holding notecards
mother kisses her
classmates watch her
day 7,910:
she is proud
wearing a blue lei
mother kisses her
she jumps and shouts
day 9,414:
she is blissful
in a white gown
mother kisses her
music drifts in church
day 9,731:
she is dead
pale white skin
mother kisses her
everyone cries expected...

dogs barking like mad outside
cats inside calm as can be
iguana skittish and caged
girl tapping the floor — content
Poem #636
spaghetti and meatballs
playing with the cat
wrestling on the couch
falling to the floor
laughing very loudly
let’s do this some more
Poem #635
kissing in museums
kicking it merrily
kissing in markets
keeping it magic
