“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

It didn’t matter if the bugler played it well or poorly, in tune or out; there was something in the mournful ache of the music, and how it spoke of men dying before their time for something they only vaguely understood and being only vaguely appreciated by the people on whose behalf they died, that made it hurt so much.”

Thanks Tammy, that is so sweet of you. It's actually a slightly improved version of the book. I did a bit more editing and it's nicely formatted, too. You are so kind to let me know. xx

I am a huge fan, as well, though you have me beat by many years. My introduction to king came in form of Misery, in the summer of 1993. I've been a Constant Reader ever since.:) 'Salem's Lot is excellent, I love it for its simplicity (though there's some complexity, too) beauty, and King's passion for the written word is on full display. Agreed, your book, Deadly Messengers seems pretty dark, and that aspect appealed to me the most. Well that and the intricate plot. I am always in awe of writers that aren't afraid to take it to the next level, to explore the darker elements of this life. I applaud you, my friend!
I've been meaning to get to your PM, and I will do so shortly. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and discussing some good books and possibly writing, as well. I also love the Goodreads community!
Enjoy the rest of your day and week!

Dustin, I am a huge fan of Stephen King. Have been reading him since he first released Carrie. I remember when I was 18 reading Salem's Lot and being terrified that there was a vampire at the window. I can still see it vividly now. If you like King, then I think you will enjoy the stories I write. My short stories, I think are very King and very dark. Actually, I will send you my novelette Behind The Fire when I get your email. That is inspired by a King short story and is very him. Somehow, my novels have strayed into slightly different genres. However, the next one of Deadly Messengers entitled The Troubles Keeper is all King and Koontz and its turning out really something I think. My best book yet. Should be out December if I stay on track. :)
Great to connect. I am here for good on Good Reads. I love connecting with other readers. Thanks for your friendship.

Take care of yourself and speak soon.
With warm regards, Dustin
By the way, I see that you're also a fan of Stephen King. You are I will get along just fine!

Thanks, Jenna. Me, too, back to you. I've realised Good Reads is the place I should live. It just seemed so huge before, but now I've explored it, I realise what great place this is filled with wonderful people who think like me. Good to connect, for sure. :)

I've read it so many times. Haven't read it for about a decade, so hopefully it will still stand up. I think so, though, for a mystery. It's really very clever. Great idea to ask a question on your friend send. Love it. xx
