In The Homestretch Now….

Hope the day finds you well and healthy.

We here in Melbourne have moved into Daylight Savings Time and I don’t know about you but it messes with me for quite a few days. It’s only one hour difference, I know, but it takes me ages to settle into it. Is anyone else like that? It’s very annoying and then we have to reverse it all six months later.

It’s been a good news/bad news type of day here in Melbourne, with a pretty sun, blue skies yet hayfever-y wind. This makes Lockdown more tolerable at least and gives me the perfect excuse to stay indoors, drink more coffee and blog – I have stuff to share! Good and bad.

If you’re like me and have no idea, you rely on the kindness of others to lead you through the process. And that’s exactly what Kyle Canon, author extraordinaire did, with me.

Hope today finds you all well and healthy.

Yes, my dear followers, I have cast a pod. I am no longer a podcast-virgin and have now actually been on one!

Isn’t that cool? How very modern of me.

You see, I was very graciously asked by Kyle Canon and his lovely wife Lilly to be on their podcast show. In fact, I – ole me from Down Under – was their inaugural interview. Although I wasn’t meant to be first, (should have been second), the fates conspired to give me the honour. Colour me tickled pink.

And it was an honour. Not only did he help me through the technical process as I have not done this before but he was then so very kind and we had the most wonderful conversation. We chatted about all sorts of things and honestly could have talked for hours more. It’s an experience I will treasure and I couldn’t thank you enough Kyle for your warm welcome.

I hope you are all safe and healthy wherever you are.

In my last blog, I talked about how tough times had been at that stage – all the dramas and adventures and frustrations that were happening all over the place and how blessed I was despite all of it.

Well, who knew that by mid August, not only would that situation still be lurking like an unwanted grey hair but would in fact be worse?

Not I.

And oh boy, did it get worse.

Economic distress, job losses, skyrocketing death tolls around the world, Black Lives Matter, George Floyd and a billion other awful things, not just on a global scale but in my own little corner of the world, with my own family and friends. So much has changed in this relatively short space of time that I have serious whiplash as well as no doubt that many of you were like me – overwhelmed and on edge. People everywhere worried, depressed and talking about how the world has gone crazy – it has.

But more than that – it’s hurting. The world is hurting badly and it feels so heavy, so weary. The negative energy is confronting and difficult to breathe in.

Yet, despite that hurt, it’s also the time our world is calling us to revamp, learn from our mistakes and prioritise our lives. The upheaval is forcing us to declutter and reassess, adjust, grow and simplify. It’s as if the Universe/Higher Powers looked at the colossal mess we’ve been creating here on planet Earth and decided we needed a HARD re-set or at the very least, a hard slap upside our collective heads to knock some sense into us. And it’s delivered that in spades, in ways most of us never ever thought to live through. But with this, we will hopefully grow wiser, kinder and smarter as a human race. Many people believe the universe is teaching us some hard lessons and I can’t disagree. It’s what I feel too and what I’m trying to focus on – that we will prevail and we will prosper again as a better, kinder society.

I’ve learnt lots about my own weaknesses and strengths through this very challenging, lonely and isolated time. Things that will serve me well when we emerge out the other side of this dark tunnel into a COVID free world. And that’s a good thing.
