But the biggest thing I read, Craft books. If I am at an impasse for a fight scene, I read writing fight scene books. If I’m trying to develop a religion for an unknown world, I read world building books. I read other writers’ advice blogs.
And I write, sometimes I write the beginning of a whole new story. sometimes I pull out the notebook from College where I jotted down a short story and start adding to it…

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

But it was a milder form of learning disability…moreI had a hard time reading as a youngster. I’m old enough that back in the day they called it Dyslexia. But it was a milder form of learning disability and caught early enough that my mother was able to teach me coping skills.
But once I discovered books, and was able to comprehend them, I felt vaulted into the stratosphere of amazing wonders.
Now my stratosphere, banging at the back of my head for all these years I have had to work as an employee to someone else, is being given free rein. I love stories and I love being able to tell them.(less)
