Joiya Morrison-Efemini is an attorney turned stay-at-home mom, energetically raising a house full of children, loving her hardworking husband, and running miles around town with her girlfriends.

She lives in Marietta, Georgia. She enjoys unpredictable stories with dynamic characters.

The Notes They Played, her debut publication, is a collection of short stories written in verse. Her first novel, The Impossible, also written entirely in verse.
She describes both publications as fictional poetry, with bits of the people she loves sprinkled generously within.

I felt so much affinity for Kya Clark and, found myself wanting to explore the marsh with her, to discover the shocking beauty of it, and to feel connected to nature in a way that I hadn't thought possible in a place so riddled with dirt and muck and bugs. I would love to step inside that book for a week, to befriend Kya and to be an apprentice to her exploration of nature. (less)

MAXimilian Efemini 3/7/18 - 10/29/19

We lost our beloved puppy MAXimilian nearly a week ago.

He was such a sweet, sweet boy. He was smart and patient with the kiddos. He had abundant energy. He cuddled with us all, but loved me best. He was a pleaser, so perpetually obedient that I often joked, "he's my favorite child."

One minute he was here, being taken for granted by us all. And the next, he was dead in the street. Hit by a car.... Read more of this blog post »

Joiya Morrison-Efemini is reading Grit of Berth and Stone: Beautiful! Grit was such a realistic portrayal of all the brokenness present in human nature. The story mirrors the gentle coaxing of Jesus, and the free will afforded all. Every character was multi-dimentional. I just loved this book and plan to read the entire series!
