Amara Luciano is the author of To All The People Back Home, a website dedicated to making things better, to magic-stuff and iffy morals, which sometimes do go together. She’s worked with several authors and publishers on former book reviewing blogs, and has now opened her own shop to showcase her short fiction pieces, like “Oddly Enchanted,” “The Wood That Never Sleeps,” and more to come. She’s based in New Jersey, surrounded by a Rohirrim army of a family in all directions. She loves heart-ready smiles, chocolate anything, and people who win love by daylight. Her spirit animal: Alexandra Franzen. Her motivational mantra: “Don’t make excuses.”

It's always nice to be back with the gang, but unfortunately this was solidly boring. Characters we know and love barely get enough page time. The mystery wasn't very exciting, nor was the outcome. Sadly unimpressive. It's been A WHILE since I've not ...more

Franz Kafka
“I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound or stab us. If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for? So that it will make us happy, as you write? Good Lord, we would be happy precisely if we had no books, and the kind of books that make us happy are the kind we could write ourselves if we had to. But we need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us. That is my belief.”
