Richard Nell concerned family and friends by quitting his real job in 2014 to 'write full-time'. He is a Canadian author of fantasy, living in one of the flattest, coldest places on earth with his begrudging wife, who makes sure he eats.

His debut novel, Kings of Paradise, is the first of an epic, coming-of-age, low fantasy trilogy, and a Canadian Amazon best-seller in dark fantasy. It's available now.

Kings of Heaven Audiobook Released….eh hem, 4 days late

The trilogy is at last complete on audio! Our wise and benevolent master audible delayed us a few days, but nevermind. Richard Nell answered Shane M. Bailey's question: I just wanted to say that the world-building in Kings of Paradise seemed effortlessly entwined into the character's stories. I loved how we learn about the world, its politics, and its customs WITH the characters from multiple different points of view. I'm looking forward to reading more in the next book soon! Is this series just going to be a trilogy or do you plan on expanding this universe further? Appreciate the kind words. The universe has already expanded! With a book called Dark Sea's End, which is the first in what will be another trilogy in the same world. You'll see some new faces, and some familiar ones...

Richard Nell answered a question about Dark Sea's End: Recommended reading age? Content warning? Thanks! Sex, violence, language. Reading age is tricky. To be safe I would say no younger than 16, but most teenagers would be fine.
