The world building in the TV show is so rich and based on many Asian cultures. There's familiarity and comfort in that, but also pure wonder in the magic, traditions, food and architecture the show's writers infused into it. I just want to be there to examine every last detail, to eat Water Tribe noodles and feel an air bison's fluffy fur. Avatar: The Last Airbender got me started in writing fanfiction, so it holds a special place in my heart.(less)

Most of the time, I just take a break and walk away and do something else for a while until I'm back in the mood or have overcome the issue. If I'm stuck on a plot point, I spend a lot of time talking it out, or I plot out a process on a piece of paper step by step. If I'm really stuck, I'll leave the scene blank and write forward, often from another characters POV. (less)

Hettie Alabama’s Playlist

Hettie’s family was never rich enough to own a phonograph, but through the magic of fiction, I sent her an MP3 player and signed her up for Spotify. Here’s a playlist she put together.
