Lydia Deyes has loved to write stories since she was a child. Her overactive imagination was expressed in tales of flowers that lived like people, a starfish that underwent an existential crisis, a mouse that went on an adventure, and folk tales of how the different colors of ants came to be.

Lydia still cherishes the joy of writing, and plans to continue to do so for decades to come. She is especially inspired by her favorite best-selling fiction and fantasy authors: J.K. Rowling, Patrick Rothfuss, and Erin Hunter.

Sheer is no ordinary bird. He has a..." Read more of this review »
A Song in the Rain by Heather R. Smith
"This was a truly delightful read. While geared more towards a younger reader, I was enthralled by the story and the characters. "
A Song in the Rain by Heather R. Smith
"Unexpected, original, and charming are the first three words that come to mind for this delightful fantasy novel. Our unlikely hero, Sheer, is only a very small sparrow but he is thrust into responsibilities and quests far larger than he expects o..." Read more of this review »

I could not put this book down! Matthew did a fantastic job of immersing me in a unique world of a superhero school. The plot was not predictable at all, and I was carried along on a crazy roller coaster ride where I was on the edge of my seat almost ...more
Lydia Deyes is 45% done with The Supes: AWESOME so far. First chapter and a half were a bit disorienting but once I got past those, it really took off, and I haven't been able to put it down.

Absolutely fascinating concept for a debut novel! I was intrigued by the story and enjoying reading for a while, but about halfway through I started to struggle to keep focus. I got quite thrown off by an over-sexualized young girl and just couldn't ...more
