My name is Susan Rooke, and I live on a square of green, peaceful country outside of Thorndale, Texas, not too far from Austin.

My husband Glen runs a small cattle operation on our place, and our favorite relaxation in the evenings is to sit outside watching them go about their cow business. They can be surprisingly hilarious.

I take way too many pictures of sunsets, sunrises, the moon, the scenery and our lake, and have to replace too many exclamation points with periods. I value goofiness probably more than I should. Thanks to Jules Verne, since childhood I’ve had a deep-seated belief in Architeuthis dux, the Giant Squid. Proof was a long time coming, but the vindication is sweet!
