"You can no longer trust data or information when facts are played hob with like Wikipedia or when everyone on the web who reads an opinion and treats it like fact. Back in the day, an opinion was something ventured with caution and usually with great thought and deliberation by someone who knew something. Now, it's just the shit that pours off these mountains of lava of stupid remarks. I've led a terrific life and really have no complaints, but boy am I glad I'm not going to have to live thr...

Spring Design's Alex eReader is one of those products that probably would have gotten a lot more attention had it managed to come out before Apple's iPad. However, as it stands, the $399 Android-powered device, which features both a 6-inch e-ink display and a 3.5-inch, 16-bit color touch-screen LCD, is scheduled to ship in the middle of April and threatens to get overshadowed by the iPad's arrival on April 3. The roll call of newspapers shedding comic strips is growing, from the Portland Oregonian, which shed 10 strips last year, to the Washington Post.

The cash-strapped Washington Times recently went a step further, eliminating its Sunday comics section entirely.

The savings can be enormous. The Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J., told readers that reducing the comics section by one page would save $300,000 a year.

"

"Facebook is a service that enables developers, like you, to make applications social everywhere, on as many platforms as possible, and we get some very interesting cross-platform properties," Davis said at the beginning of his talk. The company's Facebook Connect technology has been extended from third-party Web sites to the iPhone and now gaming consoles like the Xbox 360.

"We're working very closely with the console makers—Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo—and we've done integrations with all...

"What I think a lot of people don't realize is that Longbox is what is called a silo, a closed environment, a portal that tries to sell you something to experience in a locked company-defined software. And yes with heavy DRM.
Why would anybody buy something from Longbox when they can buy a platform specific version of the same comic directly from the publisher? Because we all know that every publisher is going to be releasing their own titles on the iPad, iPhone and computers any time soon (ID...
