After much thought and consideration, I have an announcement to make in relation to my publishing career. I’ve been wrestling with these thoughts for quite some time. A week or so ago, I posted this update on my GoodReads profile:
Hi, friends! I wanted to let everyone know that I’m in the process of officially transitioning to a new profile soonish. This is due to two reasons: 1) doctrinal soundness matters much more to me now and I no longer agree with a lot of my old reviews/ratings but I h...

This is going to be a different type of post than what I normally do.
Over this past year or so, I have developed a passion for theology. Doing so has shown me that who God is, who Jesus is, who the Holy Spirit is, what the Bible is, and who we are absolutely crucial doctrines. I’ve also come to realize that not every individual or movement that claims to be a part of Christianity actually is. I had no idea until recently what is being taught here in America.
My heart has been heavy the las...

Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic 4th of July!
I don’t have a blog post for today–I’m working on finishing up everything needed to publish Underground. I’ll be getting back into a normal blogging routine after Underground‘s release.
How has everyone been lately?

I know I missed Wednesday’s post, but there’s a reason, I promise!
I got my proof copy of Underground in the mail! And I’ve been busy getting this whole publishing process ironed out (I may only be posting here once a week until Underground‘s release).
Today, I have the blog tour sign up form open! And I made sure to test it this time. It works.

I realized this week that 2019 is almost half-way over.
This has definitely been a busy year for me, but I’m happy to say it’s been a good one. I’ve been really productive and have made quite a bit of writing progress! Lately I’ve “rediscovered” my love for telling stories (something that died a bit after 2.5 million years* spent rewriting/revising Underground).
I’ve found that, for me, the greatest cure for writer’s block is to move on to a new project for a short period of time. So...

Marie Lu is one of the first authors I think of when I hear “bestselling YA authors”. She’s published multiple series that all, I believe, have been on the New York Times bestseller lists. I see her books everywhere and have many friends who have read many of her series. When I started this blog series analyzing popular YA fiction from a theological perspective, I knew I had to put one of Marie Lu’s books on the list.
I read The Young Elites, the first installment of a dark, atmospheric sci-...

A few months ago, I stumbled upon Kayla Olson’s novel, This Splintered Silence, on Amazon. I was immediately intrigued, as I love YA science fiction*! On to my Goodreads to-read shelf this book went. When I went to the library recently, I sadly didn’t find This Splintered Silence–but I did find Olson’s debut, a dystopian novel entitled The Sandcastle Empire. The cover and synopsis grabbed my attention, and so I read the book on my road trip to a writer’s conference!
As always, my review of T...
