Crafting your own worlds, breathing life into characters, weaving plots and scenes together to form a seemless tapestry of a story. S.K. Inkslinger is on page 100 of 429 of Nevernight: This book is amazing. Some parts of the Church reminded me of Harry Potter, but that only made it all the better. Mia with a cigarillo in her mouth is pretty much my definition of badassery.

3.5 stars. Wow, disappointed is an understatement for what I'm feeling right now. I didn't like the 'let's go all crazy with the nautical terms' parts much, but the naval battle I thoroughly enjoyed.

What an amazing collection. These stories took you into fantastical worlds of magic and technologies and left you stranded there, with only the book as a guide. I do not usually read science fantasy works myself, but most of the tales in this collect ...more

"I was slightly disappointed with the second novel, as it was not as enjoyable a read as the LoLL. It didn't have the same feel as the first and I lost a bit of interest as the story went on. I'll wait and see the reviews of the next book before I..." Read more of this review »

“Enjoy the world while you can I say. A shallow enough philosophy by which to live, but shallow is what I've got. Besides deep is apt to drown you.”

“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?”
N.H. Kleinbaum, Dead Poets Society

Patrick Rothfuss
“It's like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.”
Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind

“I’m a liar and a cheat and a coward, but I will never, ever, let a friend down. Unless of course not letting them down requires honesty, fair play, or bravery.”

“Life before Death.
Strength before Weakness.
Journey before Destination.”

S.K. Inkslinger It's a weird moment when you finally identified with a literary character, but that character is Jalan Kendeth. Now I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed...
