Happy October

How did it get to be fall already? One season has blurred into another this year. Thank goodness there are still great books to read to take our minds off of all the troubles of this year. I recently finished Dana Mentink's Cold Case Pursuit. It was a great book that I could hardly put down, Here is my review:

Once again, Dana Mentink has crafted an edge-of-your-seat suspense that will keep you turning the pages from the very first paragraph onward.

As a four-year-old, Penny McGregor witnessed the murders of her parents. Twenty years later, the murderer, who has been at large, returns for her. She has tried so hard to put the past behind her and live a normal life. She has a job she loves and a cop big brother who dotes on her. When the monster “clown murderer” returns, it is Detective Tyler Walker who vows to protect Penny with the help of his K-9 partner, Dusty. The killer pops up in unexpected places threatening Penny, taunting her, and nearly completing his mission to snuff out her life. Tyler struggles to stay one step ahead, to solve the case, to keep Penny safe, and to sort out his unexpected attraction to the brave, young sister of his buddy.

Your heart will pound and your breath will come in gasps until the very end of this superbly written novel. Dana Mentink has a way of drawing you into the action right from the beginning. Her characters are well developed and completely believable. Her descriptions are so vivid that you can “see” exactly what the characters see. I truly had a very difficult time putting this book down. I love Dana Mentink’s books, and Cold Case Pursuit certainly lived up to—and even surpassed—my expectations. I highly recommend this book with one caution: You won’t sleep much until you’ve finished it!
