Hi, Patricia!

I tend to read a lot of standalone titles. Lately, I've read loads and loads of American classics like Ask The Dust by John Fante and Post Office by Charles Bukowski but the novel that's stuck with me most this year has been a collection of short stories called Men without Women by Haruki Murakami. A brilliant author.

But time, as the age-old saying goes, is a great healer and I certainly feel optimistic for the months ahead, especially regarding Seven D...

No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai
"I spent like three years just crazy depressed. Grim thoughts all the time, super self destructive, at once alienating and distributing "cries for help" or whatever you wanna call it... sheesh, man. It was so fucked. I'm really glad I got out of th..." Read more of this review »

"Tearjerker!!

I am not lying when I say I cried all through this book. The synopsis gives a strong sense of what happens and all while reading I just knew. Hugo Driscoll wrote this story so beautiful and it felt as if he'd written it directly from h..." Read more of this review »
Seven Days with You by Hugo Driscoll
"Wow! This book was so much more than I was expecting.

7 Days With You features quite a cast of quirky characters, many of whom charm the reader's heart despite their unique first impressions.

I anticipated a lot of what would happen as it unfolded...." Read more of this review »

“The human heart has a way of making itself large again even after it's been broken into a million pieces.”
Robert James Waller, The Bridges of Madison County

Michel Houellebecq
“Anything can happen in life, especially nothing.”
Michel Houellebecq, Platform

Michel Houellebecq
“People often say that the English are very cold fish, very reserved, that they have a way of looking at things – even tragedy – with a sense of irony. There’s some truth in it; it’s pretty stupid of them, though. Humor won’t save you; it doesn’t really do anything at all. You can look at life ironically for years, maybe decades; there are people who seem to go through most of their lives seeing the funny side, but in the end, life always breaks your heart. Doesn’t matter how brave you are, how reserved, or how much you’ve developed a sense of humor, you still end up with your heart broken. That’s when you stop laughing. In the end there’s just the cold, the silence and the loneliness. In the end, there’s only death.”
Michel Houellebecq, The Elementary Particles

Paulo Coelho
“It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Paulo Coelho
“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
