The violin

He owned them. There was nothing left to say. He was their precious hope, the success they’ve never gotten, all bundled up into fits of spoiled rage and violence.

Book Review: Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians

Book 5 of Brandon Sanderson's Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians series is out since Tuesday and I'm as happy as can be! This book is the lastest of Sanderson's middle-grade series, but in all honesty, it doesn't matter what age you are1, you will love it anyway.            What grabbed me when I saw the audiobook at the local library was the Evil Librarians part of the title. Freedom can be found in many ways. For me, putting pen to paper without previous thoughts or ideas used to be one of them. The action of writing drove me to express myself, to get what was struggling inside me out into the world. In those moments –as long as they turned out to be– I had no worries, no second thoughts, no judgments. I was, simply put: free.

Resting the mind

Being tired and/or depressed can affect your creativity, so sometimes you have to make the conscious choice of not writing, so that you can let your mind rest.
Taking a break can breathe new energies and ideas into your life, and although it is hard to say no to the emails and commitments, we have to take care of ourselves. So even if you can’t take a real break from work, you can still take a small break from your hobby or afterwork activities for a while, and maybe try something new, or jus...
