W.C. Maher was born and raised in a suburban home with his parents and five siblings. He cut his teeth on the streets and playgrounds of Northern New Jersey where the Sopranos broke limbs, the city across the river stretched its legs and the Giants are really known as the “hometown team.” New Yorkers would argue that last point, of course.

After graduating high school he went on to study, play hoops and pledge a fraternity at Ramapo College of New Jersey where, after five years, he finally came around to the idea of graduating with a degree in American and International Studies with a concentration in History.

After realizing that selling paper forms didn’t have much of a future, he shifted his career to become a business professional focus

Newsweek - special edition

I was just in Barns and Nobles and I noticed that Newsweek had a special edition on JRR Tolkien. Of course, I bought it.

As I sat in my FJ Cruiser and looked again at the cover I wondered why it was such an easy sale? Was it the fact that it was on Tolkien – the master of the genre?
