Jean is a scientist by training with a background in marine biology, microbiology, and immunology. She currently resides in New England and draws from her interests in history, science, the outdoors, and her family for writing inspiration.

Awestruck by the historical romance genre years ago, she dove deep into mystical Scottish medieval stories. The "hundred" trilogy came to completion this year with A Hundred Lies. She has expanded her novel adventures to include contemporary romance and women's fiction. Two of her books won InD'tale 2020 RONE awards. What happens at town meetings...stays at town meetings?

I’ve had small-town politics on my mind lately. I attended quite the (always) lively town meeting this weekend. What made it more heart-drumming for me was I stepped up to bat for our town library. I drive with my friend, she brings the soft cushions for the bleachers (though this time we were in an auditorium and last year we held the meeting outside in a parking lot with residents in their cars) Read more of this blog post »

I knew what to expect when reading another Kristin Hannah book - tears and emotional investment. She not disappoint. I listened on audio and the narrator was very good. I would classify this as a YA/NA coming of age story that is entrenched in grief ...more

“Glen Shiel, Socttish Highlands, 1296
Strife abounds. King Edward of England has invaded the southern strongholds of Scotland and is pressuring King John of Scotland to abdicate. Several Scottish nobles, called Claimants, vie for his throne. The Cause divides the country, as each clan must choose and support a Claimant. Many contenders seek fortune and power, but a few seek Scotland’s independence. Only by a great force can this be achieved. However, the road to independence is fraught with those that wish to see the Cause crushed, at any cost.”
