Review: SAMMY, THE STATION WAGON by Tal Nuriel

If you like the movie, Cars, you’ll love this. It’s exactly the same.

This is the story of how different Sammy, the young car, is different from the others. Enter the world of cars!

But Sammy wasn’t different, he was unique.

A nice read, although some of the text was a little hard to read.

Review: MARVIN, THE VERY TALL BEAR by T.A. Unwin

Meet Marvin, the tall bear. He didn’t like being tall (something I could relate to.) But then he realized that maybe being so tall wasn’t so bad after all.

The drawings were too child-like and amateurish. A nice, quick read.

Review: HOPE, WHERE ARE YOU? By Amanda Doucet and Elisa Guerra

Schools are closed everywhere and the kids were stuck at home. See how kids from all over the world feel about it and what they do to cope. They’re just seeking a little bit of hope.

A nice story, but the pictures could’ve been better and the text should’ve been easier to read.

Review: SNAKES HAVE NO LEGS by Kelly Tills

The wonderful thing about snakes is that snakes have no legs.

Story is cute with simple, geometric illustrations. It tells you all about the wonderful workings of a snake.

Confident and resilient homicide detective Jennifer Scott is instinctively suspicious when her best friend's life is disrupted by the arrival of an unbeknownst twin sister. When a murder coincides with her appearance, the mysterious twin becomes the prime suspect.

Adding confusion to Jen's organized life is another unexpected intrusion, her handsome and sophisticated new partner, Detective Luke O'Connor. As mischievous as he is charming, chemistry between the two intensifies, threatening Jen's reputation and testing her limitations.

As the murder investigation unfolds, the detectives are forced to back-burner their heated connection while they race against time to figure out what other long-lost family members may be involved, how they're connected to the twins and why they've surfaced now.

His reply was also hushed, but other officers snuck curious glances our way. “Well, you are full of yourself, Detective Scott. I wasn’t hitting on you, I merely shook your hand and re-introduced myself, trying to make the situation between us comfortable since we will be working together. As your new partner, it’s my job to have your back, so to speak, so you have no choice but to have me in your personal space. I also don’t date cops and I would appreciate it if you would keep the “your type” comments to yourself since you know nothing about me, due in part to the fact that you can’t see two feet past your own ego that tells you every good-looking dude who walks by your blonde-haired, blue-eyed, pretty face must want to get into your pants.”

Meet the Author:

Morgan is a fun wife, and imperfect mom of 3 crazy kiddos and 2 little lemon (problematic) dogs. She tries to live her strengths the best she can. She likes to say she is creative, not crafty. Morgan is a homemade Halloween costume type of mom. She lets her kids mix the play doh. She bakes fun birthday cakes (cutely, but far from perfection). She loves a homemade valentine and a school project. Chipper the Fox is an extension of Morgan's creative strength. Originally designed as character to create merry during the holiday season, Chipper has grown and developed into a story of determination and love.

Review: ELVIN, PLEASE REPORT TO THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE by Drew Dernavich

Meet Elvin, a 5thgrader that loves to draw…on everything. Lockers, lunch trays, sidewalks, doors, homework, desks, walls, and so on. One day, he was ordered by the principal to stop drawing on stuff until he gets the opportunity to draw a picture of a kid who may have knocked an ice cream cone from someone. This ends up getting his best friend in trouble. From this point forward, these boys just keep getting into more trouble.

Story had wonderful, sketchy illustrations—cool, caricature-style doodles. So dynamic! A fun and funny read! Loved it!

Review: BEACH BALL BLUNDER by G. Pa Rhymes

Cray, the happy seal, loses his ball, and it bounces all over the place, causing trouble. But “accidents will happen.”

Such exquisite and lovely illustrations that are like watercolor. A delightful, little tale about sorrow and forgiveness.

Review: OUR WOUNDED LITTLE CHICKADEE by Pamela Tomlin

In this vibrant and colorful tale, see how a compassionate girl finds and cares for an injured bird. Some of the text was hard to read, but, fortunately, the pictures say it all.

A sweet story overall.

Review: KAREN’S ICE CREAM SUNDAE by Sylvie Richard

Enter the world of ice cream in this off-kilter ode to the dairy treat.

I loved the wacky illustrations on some of the panels. There’s really no story in it and I thought it silly at times. Still, it’s a quick, little enjoyment.
