Review: BLACKMAILED BY MY DAD’S BOSS by S.E. Law
Tammy breaks into her dad’s company to make an audition tape. We really didn’t a line-by-line play of her filming herself. The girl was talking about flowers for a whole chapter. Oh geez…too boring! It keeps on this dull narrative until the boss sees the video of Tammy in “self-pleasure.” Still pretty boring to read.

Review: PREGNANT WITH MY ROOMMATE’S DAD by Sofia T. Summers
Ian was a single father with a daughter in college. He’s worried that she may not graduate thanks to the bad influence of her roommate, Maxie. Maxie was just your typical starving student that knew how to budget and never forced alcohol down her friend’s throat. What was the dad’s problem anyway? His daughter was a grown adult. Just let her be.
When the girls get flooded out of their apartment, they have no choice but to move into Ian’s newest renovation. Maxie was actually a serious student and wanted to make something of her life. With not having the same privileges as her roommate or others on campus, she had to work extra hard with what little money and resources she had.
Ian and Maxie constantly have a battle of wills where the daughter was concerned. What happens when the girls throw a reckless party at his house?
After an explosive encounter, Ian realizes that perhaps Maxie wasn’t the villain he made her out to be. The whole thing’s full of passion and tension between the two.
One night, while Ian and Maxie were having of their heated arguments, only one thing to do comes to mind.
“This is what happens when girls misbehave. This is what happens when they lie.”
Big mistake?
“My body begged to teach Maxie all kinds of wicked lessons.”
With all their time spent together, it was no wonder that she got pregnant. Now what? Were all her plans shattered? And how will Ian react?
The love scenes were slow at times. They weren’t as steamy—they were mostly short and to the point. Still, this was a good, sweet read.

Review: JUST ANOTHER SILLY LOVE SONG by Rich Amooi
“We’re going to add a woman to your show.” That was one of the worst things to hear for Ben A.K.A. “Dr. Tough Love,” a love-dishin’ radio jockey.
“If I go, there will be trouble. And, if I stay, it will be double.”
For Lori, nothing was worse than getting dumped on her own show. What kind of guy calls up to break up with you on live radio? Right then and there, she lost that lovin’ feelin’. Welcome to Break-Up Radio! And, Lori, welcome to unemployment.
Dr. Tough Love meets his new co-host. One show. Two hosts. Sugar-coated advice vs. In-Your-Face sense. What a fun combo!
He pushes her to quit, but she won’t give up that easily. With the back-and-forth zingers and snappy quips, the 2 had awesome chemistry. They were certainly good as opposites. But you know what they say: opposites attract. How could opposites possibly have everything in common? That was just too ridiculous, coincidental, and dull. Why would you want someone that likes everything you like?
Once the two started liking each other and getting along, it was definitely not that fun anymore. Who’s going to listen in to two people constantly agreeing with each other? Where’s the fighting. I definitely liked it better when they hated each other.
This one was not as good a read as other books, but it was an okay love story.

Review: ALABAMA ADMIRER by Ann Omasta and Callie Love
Who would’ve thought that you’d find two things in a women’s restroom: danger and a heroic hottie.
Lucky for the woman, the hottie would do anything to protect his daughter and the woman that offered to help. The terrifying scene draws the reader in immediately. It’s funny how such a traumatic event revealed the kindness and bravery of these two characters and that they quickly saw a family with each other. Wow, talk about fast!
This certainly goes from one exciting scene to another.
A short and sweet story.

REVIEWS
The Brothers Flick
It all started when a boy with no memory crawled out of a well. Time for The Brothers Flick, a paranormal investigation agency. After all, a boy that crawled out of a well he never fell into was certainly a cause for investigation.
Welcome to Strander House, the only place where you have talking statues and invisible dogs. As the newcomer deals with the new adjustments of this strange place, the boys make a promise to get him home…wherever that is.
A door in the attic that leads to the ocean?
“Sometimes the easiest way to find something…is to be found yourself.”
In an effort to rescue one of their own, the boys outswim a giant monster fish, get outnumbered by sea ghosts, and end up in sea prison. I liked the sarcastic quips in the dialogue. Leo was the geeky Sherlock Holmes of paranormal stuff. In fact, they were exactly like Holmes and Watson—a dynamic duo. Smart, witty, and clever.
The illustrations were so comical and colorful. The artistic style was a trendy combination of Popeye and Ren & Stimpy, and the dark “Stooges” humor was that of Beetlejuice. I especially loved the caricature style of it, which made the drawings more fun and festive. Each chapter was a case episode. Each case episode had a new mystery to solve. “It’s a mystery. Mysteries need to be solved.”
Ocean worlds, shadows brought to life, pixies in the garden, a gravity gone haywire, a door to tomorrow, and a time-traveling classroom.
The boys’ protective heroism with the house kids was hopeful and endearing. The kids know you can always count on the boys. I enjoyed the delightful blend of comedy, horror, and mystery. The whole thing was a Tom-and-Jerry adventure with Addams Family comedy. Instead of being scared, why not have fun with it instead? So exciting! Just absolutely loved it!
But no matter how good the boys are at solving mysteries, there can always be something for them to learn.
Just perfect for fans of Supernatural. Can’t wait to read more of The Brothers Flick. More, more, more!

Ghoster Heights
Staying at Grandma’s? What…fun?
For Ona, life certainly wasn’t very interesting. The only thing she had was her virtual ghost pet… and it wasn’t working right. And it REALLY wasn’t working right when a cat knocks it from her and releases a REAL LIVE ghost. Yikes! RUN!
They say “Ghoster Heights” was haunted. “But don’t worry,” Grandma says, “in all my years, I haven’t seen a ghost.” That’s what she thinks. Evidently, the whole place was filled with ghosts that only Ona could see. Or were they all ghosts? It seemed that when Ona touched them, a memory sprung up. Or perhaps these were the ghosts of people’s haunted minds. It was interesting, but some of the panels can be a little confusing. Still, I liked Ona’s good heart and intentions as she tries to help these people. Yeah, Ona was helping them get rid of their demons. That was nice. And when things become too much for Ona, it’s good thing she has her grandma around to dole out some advice.
In this story, Ona becomes a little ghost buster…or, more accurately, a ghost eraser. Ghost gone! Ona becomes quite the problem-solver. With illustrations that were cute and entertaining, this is a warm and compassionate read with an exciting and ghostly end! We should all let go of our ghosts. It’s good to let things go. Very inspirational!

Hello, My Name is Poop
All the kid wanted to do was make it the last 2 days of 6th grade. Instead, the kid gets targeted by the mean bully. And that’s how Poupé become known as Poop. Turns out a lot can happen in 2 days.
Unfortunately, the name Poop stuck with the kid ‘til the very end. Oh, what crazy antics that had befallen him. The oddest thing, though, was running into a real, live wizard at the school. What? Apparently, the wizard was there to help teach Poop the unleashing power of his own name. Again, what? So, apparently like Shazaam, all the kid has to do is say “My name is Poop” and BAM—he becomes a superhero. Mmm, interesting. And one of his main powers was to move and manipulate poop any way he wanted. Mmm, gross. But I guess that could be useful. He could even sense when someone had to poop. O-kay.
What kid wouldn’t have fun the last 2 days with superpowers? Well, making the bully explode and poop his pants in front of everyone was a nice start. To have the power of poop. Definitely unique.
But what happens when the powers turn you into someone you don’t want to be—a bully? After all, real superheroes want justice not revenge. Can Poop stop it before he turns into a living turd? Ha!
The illustrations were so colorful and funny. The lively commentary that Poop had on people was also witty and clever. For instance, the kids called Mr. Tenpenny “Mr. T.P.” because “like a roll of cheap toilet paper, he just rubs us the wrong way.” Ha, ha! The comics were just so outrageous and entertaining. They reminded me of cartoons like Hey, Arnold! and Ren and Stimpy.
This story was about finding out what it means to be a real superhero. Either poop or get off the pot.
This was kind of gross, weird, and a little crude, but it was also really fun. Just loved it! It’s a riot! It’s certainly poop-slingin’ fun!

Blog Tour: LOVE TOOLS by Isobel Reed
Love Tools: Bluestone Series Book One
by Isobel Reed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
What happens when the king of casual meets the queen of picking the wrong men?
Lily is running. From a dead-end job, a neurotic mother and all the losers she dared to date. Moving halfway across the world to Bluestone County seemed like a good idea at the time. So did reopening her estranged father’s hardware store. But now she isn’t so sure.
Small town living has its perks though. Wide-open space, clean air, and sexy cowboys. Well, one sexy cowboy. Jake. Who also just so happens to be the new bane of her existence. At least when he’s not talking, she can admire the view.
Jake is the king of casual. The love of his life has always been his ranch, and that was fine with him. He never really saw the point in long-term. But all that changes when a mouthy, blonde sasses him into oblivion. He should have known she’d be trouble as soon as he laid eyes on her. Now it’s too late. She’s all he can think about. All he has to do is convince her that he’s finally the right man.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
Lily stared at the boarded-up windows and took a deep breath. There was no turning back now. Pulling the keys from her handbag, she unlocked the door and followed the creaking sound of the floorboards into the dimly lit store.
To her surprise the shelves were still stocked and brimming with power tools, each item covered in a layer of dust that had already started to make its way up her nostrils.
“What the hell are you doing here Lily?” she muttered to herself as she ran her fingers across the counter.
To get this place up and running, it was going to be more work than she ever imagined. She just hoped the apartment upstairs was in better condition.
After exploring the shop floor, she went to find out. She followed the beige hallway into the living room, taking a seat on the squeaky leather sofa and looking around. The space was depressing. Habitable but depressing nonetheless.
How could he have lived here for so long, and it still feel so empty?
Furniture was sparse, and other than the chair she sat in, the only other items that remained were a flatscreen TV, a scratched wooden coffee table and a small shelving unit scattered with a few books and a couple of picture frames.
She looked over at the kitchen adjoining the living room and noticed some basic appliances. It felt strange to be in his space. His home. Surrounded by his things. Was there a right way to feel?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Review: Were all the men in Montana hot? That’s what Lily was wondering when she laid eyes on the stud in her new hardware store—the one she inherited from the father she never knew. Most of the town people would’ve figured she would’ve turned the store into something girly. Like a girl can’t learn anything about tools. How could she abandon her life in London for some shop in the middle of nowhere? The reasons didn’t matter. Her only focus was getting the shop up and running. She did not need a man, especially some cocky SOB like Jake. Nope, she was on a Man Strike.
Of course, that’s what they always say. But the two undoubtedly get closer as he helps her get the store going and find out more about her father. But could there really be something between them? “The words ‘emotionally unavailable’ and ‘womanizer’ sprang to mind.” Still, the chemistry between Jake and Lily was positively charged. I especially liked the riding lesson on the same horse. And who wouldn’t get turned on by getting lifted over a cowboy’s shoulder?
Story is a fun ride of love, drama, and insecurities. It’s a sweet, ole’ fashioned romance. An enjoyable read!
Look forward to more of this series.

Excerpt One:
He’d been looking for close to thirty minutes—his throat was raw from yelling. The feeling in his fingers was gone. Adrenalin powered through his body. He punched redial for the hundredth time. There. He strained to hear. Was it his imagination? No. Finally… “Jingle Bells,” off to his left. Even though he could hear the ring, the visibility was poor.
His eyes teared constantly from the frigid cold, and he repeatedly blinked to clear his vision. Then he saw her, utterly still, beneath a white blanket of snow covering her like a shroud. The hair lifted from the back of his neck. Terror grabbed him by the throat.
Barely remembering to put the car in park, he bailed out of the car. He pounded across the snow, each breath scorching his lungs. He tore off his gloves, dropped to a crouch beside her, and brushed the snow from her face. Placing two fingers on her slender neck, he held his breath. Then, his chin sagged to his chest in relief. Emma’s pulse beat below his fingertips. Weak, yet it was still there.
“Emmie, Emmie, stay with me, baby.” Crouched beside her, without moving her head or neck, he turned on his phone light to examine her.
His gut turned to jelly. A puddle of red soaked the snow beneath the back of her head. The wound was probably superficial, he told himself, even though those could gush like a son of a gun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Review: What could be more romantic than Christmas at a country inn? Well, romance was the last thing on Emma’s mind after losing her mother and her home. She figured a nice stroll down memory lane would do her good, but she never expected to run into a Blast from the Past. It only took an unexpected kiss under the mistletoe to bring her right back where she started—in the loving trance of Jake. Could this be their second shot at love?
Filled with vivid scenery and a strong prose, story takes the reader on a grand, snowy Winter Wonderland tour. It was certainly lovely, but it was long and slow. There were too many characters for my liking and the story’s progression was very slow for me. Most of the time, you just see the unspoken attraction between Emma and Jake. Yes, there’s a sweet love here, but nothing really major happens.
All in all, this was a fairly nice read.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
People always ask me why I became a writer. I think a writer was always inside me. When I was ten, I started a neighborhood newspaper with a kid's printing press my parents got for my birthday. It was my first gig as a news reporter. After college, as a broadcast major, I was primed and ready for TV news, which satisfied me for a few years, but it wasn't enough.
Sometimes what you are looking for is right in front of you, but you're so busy trying to find yourself you walk right past it. Growing up, I devoured historicals, but contemporary romance became my sweet spot when I started writing. Second chance romances and enemies to lovers are my favorite tropes.
I live with my husband and black Lab, Brody, in coastal North Carolina. We love to go to the beach in all seasons. Brody delights in chasing waves, and our three little grandchildren enjoy shell collecting. I love movies, reading, and exploring seaside villages and am always up for a travel adventure.
Several years later, during a summer break from Stephens College, I was hired as an intern at The Associated Press–a real prize for a broadcast major. Yes, I was in the big leagues now and though I warned myself to keep my "creativity" under wraps– some things you just can't control. This time I got into really hot water by mis-quoting a source. What I'd done was simply re-arrange a few words in a direct quote to make it flow better. Evidently my "re-arranging" altered the source's meaning and he was furious and out for blood; someone's head had to roll. The red-faced bureau chief fired me on the spot, muttering something about me trying my hand at fiction. Lesson finally learned: don't screw with the facts!
After working in TV news for a few years, I moved into commercial production, then freelance writing. Fewer and fewer facts and more creativity. Finally, I was on to something; working my way towards fiction where I could whip up my own batch of facts and no one could call me out.
Four years ticked by and I finally landed—where I should have started, years ago—on the green square clearly marked "fiction writer." What was I thinking all those years? Now, with my feet firmly planted—we are NOT moving again—I'm a full time writer of contemporary romance. With the support of my family and my two office assistants—Gracie, a black Lab and Lambeau, a yellow Lab named after Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers—I spend my days in a world of my own creation where the only facts that matter are the ones I invent. Hopefully, my readers will enjoy my stories as much as I love writing them!
GENRE: Cozy mystery
BLURB:
Attending a swanky cookie exchange is the last thing on veterinarian Dr. Mandy Brown’s holiday to-do list, but she agrees to help a friend out. The party comes to a screeching halt after a body turns up on the kitchen floor, a carving knife jutting out of his back.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Mandy comes face-to-face with Officer Dylan Shaw, a man she thought she was dating until he ghosted her. Tensions escalate as motives for murder come out of the pantry as fast as guests scarf down the pot-spiked brownies, making everything all the merrier.
Although the case seems open and shut, Mandy doesn’t believe the evidence. Can she and Dylan put their differences aside and find the real killer, or risk one of the bakers getting away with murder?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
“Call him.”
Dolores is right. Shaw once told me 911 calls are automatically routed to the Highway Patrol where they get sorted to the appropriate agency. If you know the local police number, you’ll get a faster response by calling them directly. But I also know the last person I want to see right now is Officer Dylan Shaw.
“Who cares?” I ask. “The dead guy isn’t going anywhere.”
Dee narrows her eyes and gives me an icy gaze. “No, but the killer is. The police need to get this place locked down fast if they’re going to have a shot at finding them.”
Well poop, I hadn’t thought of that. My head is too far up my own butt to think past my broken heart. “Fine, I’ll call him.”
She nods, pulling the sobbing Bethany under one arm and uses the other to guide, coerce and otherwise wrangle Agnes, the guests, and caterers alike back to the veranda. Very few people have the strength to refuse Dolores’ will of iron.
When everyone is gone, I slip into the den and grab my phone. Stomach lurching with dread, I hit the button for Shaw and wait the tension-filled five seconds as it rings once before he answers. “Hey Mandy, what’s up?”
His cheerful tone surprises me until irritation sweeps away the pleasure his voice brings. Does he not realize I’m mad at him for ghosting me? “This isn’t a social call, Shaw.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Review: For a short novelette, this story does take a while to get into. It starts off describing the holiday party in vivid detail from the tacky decorations to the mindless small talk. The simple 1st person narrative was rather easy to get into, however, there’s not much story in the beginning. The progression is quite slow. A dead body doesn’t show up until 25% into the book. It’s kind of a long wait. Unfortunately, the slow pace continues afterwards.
There’s a certain level of wit in the lead character that was nice and went well with the eclectic bunch, however, there were much too many characters for my liking. As far as amateur sleuthing was concerned, this was a solid effort. It didn’t quite take me away, but other readers might see something more.
An okay mystery.
Could her closed heart…
Still have room for him?
Olivia Donoghue’s life has turned a corner. The radiologist’s eleven-year-old daughter is finally healthy, and she just moved to her best friend’s dreamy hometown of Adelaide Creek, Wyoming. If only her friend’s prodigal brother, Jeff Stanhope, wasn’t complicating matters. It's clear Jeff's kindness knows no bounds, having taken in his late roommate's teenage son and also offering her a cabin to stay in, but Olivia’s heart is already full…and safe. Is the former rancher worth the risk?
Read an Excerpt
It was a frosty Halloween night, with a thin cloud cover blocking out most of the light from the crescent moon. Jeff felt the energy between them as they walked along together. It was a familiar vibe now. When they got to her cabin, Olivia directed him to lean the painting against the wall behind her desk.
When she walked him back to the door, he couldn’t resist saying, “One more thing, Olivia.”
“Oh? Uh, what’s that?”
“If you ever wear that fringy dress again, you might want to ditch the black wig.”
Olivia’s laugh was as melodic as her voice.
“Believe me, the real thing is so much better.” Taking such pleasure in her smile, he leaned forward and gave her cheek a quick kiss. “Night.” He hurried away, but he knew she was still standing by the door watching him leave. It had been a great night all around.
