I try to remember where I'm trying to go with the scene and if I can't get it to flow, I'll consult my co-author and we sometimes change our course just a bit. For example, when we started 'Ensnared', we thought the story would be totally from Patrick's point of view but as we wrote, we realized there was something missing because I had the hardest time getting through each chapter.
And so, we decided Murphy deserved to have a little of his story told, too. Things went so much smoother once we figured out that's what we were missing, it was amazing.(less)

If you suddenly think its a giant pile of crap-do NOT toss it before letting someone with a clearer head read it first. (You'd be surprised how awful you can be to yourself during rereads.)
Also, find people you can trust to give you HONEST feedback on your work. People who will push you to be the best storyteller you can be.
Don't ever stop reading, no matter how busy you get.
And write because you were born to, not for the paycheck. Put your heart into it because believe me, it shows if you don't. (less)

“Considering most everyone on the ground wants my kind dead, this is probably not the smartest thing I’ve ever done. Though, neither was entering a compound of Fae-Hating-Crazies when you’re a Kitsune.”
Melissa Simmons, Resistance

“Flint surprises me by laughing out loud, covering his mouth for a moment as though trying to hide it. “Oh my God—Relax. I’m still coherent, right?”

“Define coherent and I'll let you be,” I mumble at him, annoyed.

Flint smirks. “You’re cute when you fuss over me.” I have to wonder if this is friend appropriate behavior.

"I am not cute.” I say; feeling heat spread over my cheeks and looking away from him. “And I’m merely concerned for your safety." I trail off when I hear the noise of someone moving around above our heads.

Flint chuckles and says, “I think you’re cute.”
Melissa Simmons, Resistance

“We should probably head back. You and Fi aren’t too close yet, and I don’t want you facing her wrath.”
“Yeah she terrifies me. Quaking in fear over here.”
He smirks at me. “I think that’s truer of a statement than you’d like it to be.”
I roll my eyes and punch his arm as he walks by, but I’m smiling anyway. Unfortunately he’s kind of right. The girl is violent, what do you want from me?”
Melissa Simmons, Resistance

“Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.”
Rudyard Kipling

“Do you think I'm pretty?
I think you're beautiful
Beautiful?
You are so beautiful, it hurts sometimes.”
Richelle Mead, Vampire Academy

“You can't force love, I realized. It's there or it isn't. If it's not there, you've got to be able to admit it. If it is there, you've got to do whatever it takes to protect the ones you love.”
Richelle Mead, Frostbite

“He stepped back and threw his arms out.
"I'm always crazy around you Rose. Here, I'm going to write an impromptu poem for you."
He tipped his head back and shouted to the sky:
"Rose is in red
But never in blue
Sharp as a thorn
Fights like one too.”
Richelle Mead, Shadow Kiss

“Did you see that dress?” "I saw the dress.” "Did you like it?” He didn't answer. I took that as a yes. "Am I going to endanger my reputation if I wear it to the dance?” When he spoke, I could barely hear him. "You'll endanger the school.” I smiled and fell asleep.”
Richelle Mead, Vampire Academy
