Restoration
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to keep fighting.
I’ve been laser focused on my treatment so I haven’t posted in several days. Please continue to keep the prayers going even if you don’t see a post from me daily.
So far I have done 8 treatments out of 28. I have a break for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend so I will return to daily treatments on Monday. So far I have had no negative side effects from the chemo treatments or the radiation treatments other than extreme fatigue in the afternoon. I tend to sleep a lot from lunchtime until evening. I’m writing this prayer at 4:00 a.m. because my sleep cycle has been interrupted as a result however I am grateful that this has been my only challenge with treatment so far.
This break in treatments will bring some rest for my mind and body as well as time for my white blood cells to restore themselves. For that I am thankful.
Today’s prayer is focused on just that. Restoration.
Pray this with me.
“I have suffered much, O Lord; restore my life again as you promised.”
Psalms 119:107 NLT
“Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.”
Psalms 51:12 NLT
“The Lord nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health.”
Psalms 41:3 NLT
“You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.”
Psalms 71:21 NLT
“In just a short time he will restore us, so that we may live in his presence.”
Hosea 6:2 NLT
Father thank you for this day. Thank you for your presence. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for your loving kindness. Thank you for blessings seen and unseen. God thank you for you presence in my life during this time of battling cancer. Thank you for a few days of restoration and recovery for my body. Thank you for the gift of restoration.
Today God I pray for your people. I pray for those standing with me in this battle. God I pray that you will bring restoration to weary hearts and weakened hands.
Restore to us the joy of your salvation and the joy of serving you faithfully. Place your hands on our places of pain and bring relief, restoration, and rejoicing.
God where your church and your people have suffered injury bring healing and restoration. Give us forgiveness and grace where we have fallen short and wisdom and perseverance where we need to move forward.
God today I speak life over our people. I pray for a fresh and unusual outpouring of your spirit on their lives today. Bless the work of their hands today. Cover and protect their families. Bring peace and reconciliation where it is needed. Increase their faith and restore their passion.
Anoint them Lord from head to toe with fresh insight and passion. Give them super natural strength and unmovable faith in you.
Restore to them everything that the enemy has stolen. Restore health Jesus. Restore peace. Restore vision. Restore courage. Restore gratitude. Restore hope.
God I pray that today you bless them with the gift of laughter and happiness. Help them to enjoy your presence today and to enjoy the fruit of their labor. Lift burdens and exchange the spirit of heaviness with the garment of praise. Turn their ashes into something beautiful and plant into their heart a new song and an infectious joy that will spread to everyone they encounter.
Make your face to smile upon them and restore their trust in you and in you alone.
In Jesus name.

Wisdom Weekend
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
As we head into the weekend my heart is again captured by the need for God’s wisdom to guide our lives. For most of this year we have all been on high alert, having to make life and death decisions because of a global pandemic. Such prolonged heightened sensitivity can sometimes erode our sense of stability and confidence in decision making. This is why we need God’s guidance.
In your world in particular and in the world in general we need the wisdom of God to rule.
Pray this with me
“Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life.”
Proverbs 9:11 NLT
“To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.”
Proverbs 19:8 NLT
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
James 1:5 NLT
“For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
Proverbs 2:6 NLT
“Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.”
Proverbs 3:13 NLT
“For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it.”
Proverbs 8:11 NLT
Heavenly Father I thank you for another day and another encounter with you. Thank you for another opportunity to be transformed by your spirit through the renewing of my mind. God I thank you that your presence in my life has moved me closer to your will and your plan and purpose for my life. God I thank you that you care so deeply for me that you offer and provide divine guidance every step of the way.
Today as I rise another day to battle this cancer that has invaded my body, I give thanks to you for the gift of wisdom. Thank you for your commitment to never leave me to the results of my own ignorance but you provide access to your wisdom for decision making.
Thank you for the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things and for the teachings of Jesus that help us to discern your thoughts and ways.
Lord today I pray for your people. Thank you for those who stand with me in this battle. God I pray that you will allow your presence to be felt in their lives in very tangible, meaningful, and measurable ways.
Lord I pray that your promises to them will be made a reality today and that you will dispatch divine guidance and provide them with your perfect wisdom. Lord let your wisdom be our guide and our guardian.
Satan today I stand against the spirit of confusion. God’s word declares that God is not the author of confusion and that God does all things with order. Today I cancel any attempt to bring confusion or disorder to God’s people in Jesus name.
God your word declares that to acquire wisdom is to love ourselves therefore I pray for your servants that they will find your wisdom and in finding your wisdom they will find reasons for their hearts to be settled in loving who you have called them to be.
God let your wisdom bring trust and confidence in you and your plan. God let your wisdom overshadow both selfishness and self-doubt.
Let your wisdom bring peace and patience. Let your wisdom bring joy and passion. God your word declares that if we lack wisdom then we should ask and that you will generously give it.
Today I stand in intercession for all those who need your divine guidance. Let your wisdom flow liberally from your throne and saturate the minds and hearts of those who are confused and in need of clarity.
Lord for those who are facing critical and life altering decisions regarding their families, finances, faith, and future success, grant them wisdom.
God I pray that your wisdom will direct them to the center of your will for their lives. For those facing critical decisions regarding their health or the health of a loved one, God grant wisdom.
Your word declares that wisdom has the ability multiply days and add years to our lives so God today I pray that you will guide your people to make God honoring and life multiplying choices in Jesus name.
Lord let your wisdom reign in our hearts, our homes, and our houses of worship. Let your wisdom fall on our church, community, and leaders of our country.
Let your wisdom wash over world leaders. Lord let your wisdom wash over our hearts and minds and lead us on to higher heights purpose and deeper depths of your love and produce in us a greater passion to love others.
Lord grant us the wisdom that allows us to have the mind of Christ so that we may continue the mission of Christ. Nothing compares to your wisdom God and we desire to know your ways. Teach us your ways. Reveal to us your heart.
In Jesus name.

God is Singing
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
Question: Did you know that God sings?
In a time of great despair God promised to restore his people because of a remnant that remained faithful. His words through the prophet Zephaniah remind us that God can use a small number to bring great change. His message to the people was that their problems had an expiration date and that God would be so happy for their deliverance that he would sing songs of joy over them.
Today’s prayer is focused on rejoicing with God that our troubles have an expiration date.
Pray this with me.
“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.””
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
God thank you for another beautiful day. Thank you for the gift of prayer and the gift of your presence. Thank you for second chances and fresh mercies. Thank you for covering us in our slumber and waking us this morning.
Today God as I rise to another day of battle with cancer I pray not only for healing I pray for my hearing.
Allow me to hear the sounds of joyful songs coming from heavens corridors. Let me hear the songs of joy and victory today that you sing over your people. Let me hear it on the whistle of the wind through the trees and through the sound of your creation.
Let me hear your song of joy in the laughter of my children and in the stirring of my own soul.
Let the rhythms of your unwavering grace beat like a drum guiding the melody of angelic voices. Help me to hear the joy in your voice and allow the harmonies of heavens choir to bring healing to my weary mind and body.
Thank you God for singing over people.
God I pray today for those standing with me in this battle. God remind them today that your word says that you will live among them. Remind them today God that every trial and every test has an expiration date. Thank you that trouble is not eternal but your love is everlasting.
God I pray that you would sing songs of joy over your people today. Your word says that your love is capable of calming the worst fears so I pray today God that you soothe the souls and spirits of your people with songs of joy and peace and love and victory.
Let each melody that proceeds from your mouth be a work of ministry to the broken hearted.
Take delight in your people oh God and remind them that you are a mighty savior who is capable of rescuing them from the depths of depression, anxiety, and grief. Bring joy to those who are mourning and relief to those carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.
Help us to hear the songs of rejoicing that signal the nearing end to our afflictions. Help us to hear you and help us to hold on to your promises. Trouble is only but a few moments but your love is for a lifetime.
Sing over us today God and we will rejoice with you.
In Jesus name.

Perfect Peace
God morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
Over the last few days I have been feeling the fatigue from the weight of the decisions that had to be made to get me to this point. With only a few days left before medical treatment begins, I want to process and pray through the reality of how draining this process has been. I am not afraid or anxious, but my mind is tired.
With that being said this morning’s pray is for God’s peace.
Pray this with me.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 14:27 NLT
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:7 NLT
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
Isaiah 26:3 NLT
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”
Colossians 3:15 NLT
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.”
2 Thessalonians 3:16 NLT
God thank you for this breath that I have just taken. Help me to better appreciate the wonderful gift of life that you have given me and in turn help me to make choices with my life that are a gift to you. Thank you for another day. Thank you for another opportunity to spend my life in service to you and others.
God I thank you for your loving kindness which is better than life itself. Thank you for new mercies every morning. Thank you for your presence and your spirit and that there is no where that I can go that your spirit will not be present.
As I rise today for another day of battle with cancer God I pray you grant the benefit of presence. Go with me today in each step that I take and with each decision that is made. Go before me as you prepare my body for the beginning of treatment next week. Prepare my doctors for the task of healing my body. Go with them and go before them.
God today I want to thank you for the gift of peace. Real peace. Peace that is both unexplainable and undeniable. Thank you for the peace that can ease troubled and fatigued minds and hearts
God I pray for your people today that they experience your peace. Thank you for those who are standing with me in this battle. Give them your peace.
Jesus you are called the “prince of peace” and I pray today that your peace reign in our hearts and souls. God there are those who find themselves in extremely challenging circumstances this season. Give them peace. For those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, grant them peace. For those who are financially challenged, grant your peace. For those who are facing illness, grant them peace. For those whose souls are being tormented with guilt and shame from their past, give them confidence that in Christ there is no longer condemnation.
Grant them the power to forgive others and to forgive themselves and grant them peace. For those who are anxious about the days ahead and live in constant fear of the future, grant them peace by assuring them that you have already gone before them and made the crooked places straight.
Let us live under the umbrella of grace, mercy, blessings, and supernatural peace that is provided to us by the shed blood of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us on the cross.
God you declared in your word that you would keep those who trust you in perfect peace and we stand in agreement with your word and although we ourselves are not perfect we commit today to trust you perfectly and we receive in exchange for our perfect trust your perfect peace.
Wash our minds with your word today that reminds us of the blessings and benefits of living in peace of mind, heart, and spirit. God I pray today that any and all physical illness and affects of living without your peace be reversed and repaired in Jesus name. High blood pressure, depression, hair loss, physical aches and pains, sleeplessness and restlessness and the like, are all subject to the reign and rule of the peace of God actively guarding our lives in Jesus name.
God we trust you. We love you. We are depending on you. We believe that our victory over our trials will be experienced because of your power and your spirit and your peace. God grant supernatural peace to your people today and every day to come at all times and in every situation.
In Jesus name.

Psalm 86
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
Today’s prayer is a simple prayer based on the words of the psalmist in psalm 86.
I originally created this prayer from this portion of scripture when I was a hospice chaplain helping families and patients navigate their spiritual journey.
This psalm presents us with a pattern and principle for praying through challenging times. It is short. It is simple. It is sincere.
Pray this with me.
“Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God. Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly. Give me happiness, O Lord, for I give myself to you. O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord; hear my urgent cry. I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me. No pagan god is like you, O Lord. None can do what you do! All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name. For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God.”
Psalms 86:1-10 NLT
Lord hear me
Lord help me
Lord have me
In Jesus name.

Faith and Fire
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
Update on my treatment. I will begin treatment on next Tuesday at the Winshape Cancer Institute at Emory.
My treatment will consist of 28 radiation treatments along with chemotherapy pills. Radiation will be daily for 6 weeks with some breaks for Thanksgiving.
After the 6 weeks of radiation treatments I will then have chemotherapy infusion treatments for approximately 4 months. We will then assess for surgery.
According to my medical and radiation oncologists the goal is to completely eradicate the cancer with the hopes that surgery won’t be necessary so in the words of my medical oncologist they are going to “throw the kitchen sink at me.”
I have one more set of labs to be completed this week and then next week the medical treatment begins. We are preparing for the best outcome.
With that in mind I am praying for the energy and strength to manage this first round with minimal side effects.
Pray this with me.
“Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out.” Leviticus 6:13 NLT
“At the mountain the Lord spoke to you face to face from the heart of the fire.”
Deuteronomy 5:4 NLT
“This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.”
2 Timothy 1:6 NLT
Gracious and eternal God I thank you for this day that you have created and prepared with purpose for my life. I thank you that you have been working on my behalf as I rested. I thank you that you never sleep nor slumber and that you continue to actively work in my life for my good and for your purpose. Help me to honor your commitment to me by staying committed to your calling and purpose for my life.
God as I rise to face another day of battle with cancer I pray that you pace a fire in my spirit. Fan the flames within me and renew my passion for doing your will and participating in your work here on earth. God I thank you for my salvation not just because it secures a place for me to go when I leave this world but because it provides me with a purpose for doing good while I am still here. Help me to be a useful weapon in your hands that fights against injustice and ungodliness in our world.
Give me strength and stamina to stay the course. God my hearts desire is for you to be seen through me so God I pray that you will be seen through me even as I face this battle with cancer from day to day. Don’t allow my fire to be quenched and use my trials as a testament to your faithfulness.
Today I pray for your people. Thank you for those who are standing with me in this battle. Lord I pray that they will experience the peace that comes from knowing that you have also been working on their behalf even when they have been unaware. God today provide them with encouragement to keep praying and to keep pushing.
Lord I pray today that your people will experience an increase of faith and that their hearts will be fueled with a fire and passion for you. God your word declares that the fire must be kept burning at all times. Let the tabernacle of our hearts be lit by the fire of the Holy Spirit and allow it to burn brightly within us as the light forges its way out and into our communities.
Fan the flames inside us God and restore our passion for your purpose, your righteousness, and your justice. For those who are fatigued and their faith is fading restore their passion. For those who are battle weary, strengthen their hearts and teach their hands to make war with the enemies of your kingdom.
Restore their passion for you. For those whose hearts are burdened with the concerns of this world, provide for their needs, remove the distractions of wealth and worry and restore their passion for planting gospel seeds in their homes, communities, and churches.
God lead us by pillars of fire. Speak to us from the heart of the fire. Kindle our flames and help our faith not to fade. Inject new energy and help us to no longer be discouraged but to be determined to be used by you in unusual and unconventional ways.
Lord we surrender to you. Lord we need to be surrounded by your love, your wisdom, and your grace. We love you. Fill us with a fresh all consuming uncompromising fire for you and your purposes.
In Jesus name.

The Freeway To The Father
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
Update on my treatment plan. Yesterday I visited my new medical oncologist and today I will visit my new radiation oncologist. I’ll have more information after today’s appointment.
Today’s pray focus is on the sacrificial life that Jesus lived. As I am preparing to put my body through hell in order to live I am reminded that Jesus walked the same road and for that I am grateful and inspired.
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 NLT
“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.””
John 8:31-32 NLT
“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
1 John 3:18 NLT
“I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.”
3 John 1:4 NLT
Father God I thank you for another day. God I thank you for your unfailing love and kindness. Lord your loving kindness is better than life itself. You are so good and so kind to those who ask for your help. Thank you for new mercies that I receive every single morning. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness. Thank you Jesus for giving your life for me. Let me never forget the cost you paid for me to receive freedom and to receive forgiveness for my sins. I am eternally grateful and eternally indebted to you.
As I rise to face another day of doing battle with cancer I am grateful for your presence and for inspiring me to have courage during this journey.
Jesus I could never repay you for what you have done for me but I pray that you take this day and take my life as my response to your love.
Lord today I pray for your servants. Foe those who stand with me in this fight against cancer.
For all those who serve you and search for you I pray for a renewed commitment to you. Help today to be a day of sobering reflection on the actual cost of their salvation and the actual sacrifice that you made to release them from the bondage and tyranny of sin.
Help them to absorb the full weight of your grace and mercy operating in their lives both publicly and privately.
Jesus I pray today that we respond to the revelation of the depths to which you dove deeply into this sinful world to save us. Let us hold nothing back in our ability to follow you and obey your voice. Let our lives be built on the truth of the gospel and the truth of your unflinching love for us.
Jesus you are the way, the truth, and the life. God where we have attempted to live life apart from your way and your truth bring correction and comfort. Jesus we acknowledge that you are the freeway to the father and we will no longer attempt to bypass you or your words in pursuit of the Father’s heart and the Father’s hand.
Help us to demonstrate our commitment to truth and justice with our actions. Help us to demonstrate our commit to the truth of the commandment to love others with our actions and our attitudes. God help us to acknowledge your truth as our worship offering to you.
Lord your word declares that you are seeking worship that is rooted in truth so I pray today that our lives be an offering to you that is anchored in our commitment to your word and a commitment to the truth of the gospel. Where our worship has been distorted with weightless words and lip service forgive us.
God you declare that your truth lives in us and it will not depart because it is eternal. God I pray today that your truth will dwell richly in our hearts and in our habits. Let the words that you declare over our lives ring true and everything else that is not of you fall to the ground and whither.
Let your love spring up in our souls today. Let it over flow and be our source of inspiration and hope. Let truth be our weapon against the enemy and let your word be forged in us like a weapon against the enemy.
God your word declares that as surely as the rain and snow falls and does not return to heaven without watering the earth that your word shall not return to you without accomplishing its purpose on earth.
God your word NEVER returns void and your truth is forever and your promises are yes and amen. Today Lord let your truth be seen, experienced and obeyed in our lives so that we are refreshed, renewed, and restored by your word.
In Jesus name.

We Need Love
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
Quick update. My appointment with my new oncologist was set for next Friday however they were able to get me an appointment for today at 12:00. Please pray with me that all goes well as we begin this process.
Today I am focused more than ever on the unfailing love of God. While the nation waits on the news of a new leader I take great confidence in the stability and certainty of God’s love.
Pray this with me.
“But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me.”
Psalms 13:5 NLT
God I thank you for another glorious day a day that holds with in it the glory and splendor of your majesty. God I thank you for this day that you have made and I will rejoice and be glad in this day and in this moment.
God as I rise to face another day of battling cancer I turn to you and lay down every concern at your feet. Thank you for the gift of prayer and the gift of stability in the midst of troubled times.
God thank you for your unfailing love. I will put my trust in you. My life is in your hands and will rejoice because your love has rescued me from the penalty of sin and death.
Your love gives life, hope, and strength and today as I begin a new phase of this journey I cling to you and your love for me. You’re all I need.
God today I pray for you people. Those who serve you and even those who are still searching for you. To them grant your peace and lavish them with your incredible love.
God this morning we receive your unfailing love. Thank you for never failing to love us and never failing to give us your grace and mercy. I pray for your servants today that they will feel the presence and power of your incredible love.
Thank you for a love that rescues us from the depths our own sin and selfishness and lifts us up from despair and sets us on the path of your destined and designed purpose for our lives.
Thank you for choosing to love us and for never leaving us or forsaking us. Help us to seek your face today in new and fresh ways. Help us to experience your power in new and exciting ways as we live out our lives in service to you, your church, and our community.
God in a world and in a time filled with so much hatred grant us the power to extend your love to all of your creation. Help us to honor those also made in your image even if we disapprove or disagree. God humble is where we need a dose of humility and forgive us for devaluing one another. Help us to love others the way that you love us. Unconditionally.
May each second, minute, and hour of this day be one of restoration and rejoicing in your unfailing, unrelenting, and unwavering love for us. God today we will chase you and today God we will trust you. You alone are God and we will live this day for you. Give us peace and grant us your presence and shape us into the image of Christ Jesus.
In Jesus name.

Prayer of JoyValley of Vision Puritan Prayers and Devotions
Good morning fight club. It’s another great day to fight.
Quick update on my treatment plans. I have made an important healthcare change of provider after receiving a third opinion. On the counsel of my new physician I will undergo 4-6 months chemotherapy treatment first prior to surgery. I have an appointment next week to meet my new medical oncologist.
We are very comfortable with the new medical team. They are the best in this field and we are confident in their assessment and plan. The prognosis remains excellent. The new medical team still strongly believes that my cancer can be cured.
With that being said today’s prayer focus is joy. Years ago a good friend and former hospice patient gave me a book of Puritan Prayers. It was been a wonderful resource for me over the years. Today’s prayer comes from a book of prayers.
Prayer of Joy
Valley of Vision: Puritan Prayers and Devotions
O Christ,
All thy ways of mercy tend to and end in my delight.
Thou didst weep, sorrow, suffer that I might rejoice. For my joy thou hast sent the Comforter, multiplied thy promises,
shown me my future happiness, given me a living fountain.
Thou art preparing joy for me and me for joy; I pray for joy, wait for joy, long for joy;
give me more than I can hold, desire, or think of.
Measure out to me my times and degrees of joy at my work, business, duties.
If I weep at night, give me joy in the morning. Let me rest in the thought of thy love, pardon for sin, my title to heaven, my future unspotted state.
I am an unworthy recipient of thy grace.
I often disesteem thy blood and slight thy love, but can in repentance draw water from wells of thy joyous forgiveness.
Let my heart leap towards the eternal sabbath, where the work of redemption, sanctification, preservation, glorification is finished and perfected for ever, where thou wilt rejoice over me with joy.
There is no joy like the joy of heaven, for in that state are no sad divisions, unchristian quarrels, contentions, evil designs, weariness, hunger, cold, sadness, sin, suffering, persecutions, tools of duty.
O healthful place where none are sick!
O happy land where all are kings!
O holy assembly where all are priests!
How free a state where none are servants except to thee!
Bring me speedily to the land of joy.
