It came out yesterday, officially, although the snowstorm is slowing down deliveries. Matilda Empress took me twenty years to get published -- I don't even really remember how I chose this woman's story from among my many, many ideas. It was 1995! I'm writing another book now, and it was hard to select the heroine from my list -- but both times I was motivated to explore a real character about whom little is known. Much more room to maneuver! This second novel is about a woman whose name isn't even sure, nor her mother's name, although her father is notorious. (less)
Lise Arin I am looking forward to more Anthony Trollope, more Somerset Maugham and more Graham Greene!

Readable, but trite, simplistic, and forgettable. Almost YA fiction.
