Risks, Distress & Limelight of Being America's Notorious Underground Celeb: I'm in Harms Way to Educate, Entertain & to Be a Leader - not always what it's cracked up to be & definitely, not always a position to envy, because there are threats.
People on the outside looking in usually see and feel everyday life through a much different scope than a person living in a public figure bubble. To some folks, a person living in that vulnerable, transparent bubble - might be the 'ultimate fantasy figure' w/ endless glitz & glamour and that is exactly what the image is geared to represent; along with being super high-maintenance, unapproachable & mysterious. To the envious & resentful few, maybe a smoke & mirrors magic show. I have been admired & worshipped, judged & analyzed, criticized, despised and described in a variety of ways which is expected when your life and professions are in the limelight - that puts you under the microscope for exposure.
Throughout my 38 years as an advocate, pioneer & trendsetter for freedom of expression & alternative lifestyles, I became a nonconventional, underground personality and an attraction in the mainstream. That put me in an exclusive position to observe and study human behavior and human sexuality. It also put me in an unprotected, visible, dangerous 'hot seat'. During the 16 years I owned & operated Command Performance, Florida's 1st Dungeon Club, I regularly received death threats on my life & bomb threats to CP and the same competitor continuously trying to sabotage my business. Bottom Line - it's not all fun and games, glitz & glamour. I have paid dearly to be who I am and it became evident yesterday, I still am.
