Robert Crouch combines his experiences as an environmental health officer with his love of murder mysteries to bring something new to the traditional whodunit.

While his novels have yet to make the bestsellers list, he hopes you’ll be intrigued enough to try the Kent Fisher mysteries and help him on his way. In return, the devilishly fiendish plots, memorable characters, and an irreverent detective who avoids all the usual clichés, should entertain you.

If you’re looking for something familiar, but different enough to stand out from the crowd, the Kent Fisher mysteries could be for you.

If you’re wondering why or how an EHO could investigate a murder, click on No Accident, the first in the series, and start your journey.

The last time I suffered a block, I solved it by starting and writing a blog.

It was several years ago and I couldn’t find a way to solve the murder I’d created in my novel, No Accident. Despite several attempts and a lot of rewriting, I just couldn’t find a solution and had to put the novel to one side.

In hindsight, I think I was also struggling with my characters and the story, which is how the blogging came to my rescue. The blog related my experiences as an environmental health officer. For reasons of confidentiality, I couldn’t write the blog in my own name, so I used the main character from my novel, Kent Fisher, and created a fictional team around him. The blog focused on the funnier side of my work and soon evolved into a mini sitcom, filled with sharp characters and dialogue.

After a few years of writing the blog, I transferred the characters into No Accident and rewrote the entire novel, finding the clues and solving the crime.
Best of all, the book was published in 2016 and I turned Fisher’s Fables into an ebook, publishing it later the same year.(less)

I’ve always loved reading stories and getting to know new characters and settings, and I’m delighted I can now do the same for others.(less)

Want You Dead by Peter James

18th March 2019 – 4 stars.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the previous Roy Grace novels, getting to know the characters, loving the inventive plots and twists and attention to detail.

I enjoyed Want You Dead, but it took me a while to get into the story, perhaps because I knew the identity of the bad guy and his goal from the start. It took away some of the mystery and suspense.

Robert Crouch and 78 other people liked an interview: The 'Undisciplined' Ambition of Harlan Coben
“ Harlan Coben describes himself as "not a particularly disciplined person." That's probably not the self-description you'd expect from someone who's written more than a book a year over the past quarter-century—including such bestsellers as Te...” Read more of this interview »

The author’s narrated style attracted me to try the book and kept me turning the pages as the story slowly unfolded among the dark, rain swept streets of London.
