Although a New Englander by birth (and at heart), Elise now lives with her husband and two young daughters within stone-skipping distance of the Pacific Northwest’s Puget Sound. When she’s not writing, she’s in her classroom making American history and literature interesting for high school students.

Usually I've been mulling over what I want to write while I've been doing other non-writing activities. If I get to a point in a story where I'm stuck when I'm writing, I usually go for a walk, hop in the car and drive around in silence, or eat ice cream in the middle of the day. One of those activities tends to give me the space to mentally work through the problem and pick back up with my story.(less)

If you're looking for a sweet sexy read, you've found it in The Kiss Quotient. Stella is an original and lovable main character who's also a strong, independent woman...and she's also autistic. We need more stories like this.

The characters who inhabit THE LOST FAMILY broke my heart many times over the course of reading this novel, but it was worth it. Beautifully written, this story explores what it means to rebuild a life after surviving the unimaginable.

“Time stretched before her in an endless, predictable path of banal routines—”
Elise Hooper, The Other Alcott

“for now she was not the only one stumbling through the dark looking for an elusive sense of connection with the wider world.”
Elise Hooper, The Other Alcott

“Walter amused them with a story of one of his students who had been caught cheating; the boy wrote some formulas for algebraic equations on his hand, and then rested his cheek in the same hand, as he worked on the exam, only to finish with the inked answers stamped across his face.”
