Ultraviolent

Effect achieved by using a welding mask visor as a filter up against the lens, pointing at the sun. Tinted indigo.

A Lot of Staples – Journal 5/4/17

Why, I’m published again! I did it! I went to an event where I did a slam of Splatter Masquerade and made a funny jab about not being able to read Wrong Number! Ohmygod this fills me with a fire unlike anything else! So many writers in one room for the release reception of the Pierce College Student Literary and Arts Magazine, so many people I know! My professor, past professors, past employers, current friends and all kinds of sort! It was such a rush doing the photography and then walking o...

Correction

You caught me
Outside of class
(Modern Conflicts)
Just now

Where I could tell you
I had written that
Poem from yesterday
I promised

“I’ve got to write a
poem about this now.”
I had said.

And you jabbed
About whether or not
It was free verse

You watched as I
Formatted and
Printed it for you

There was a discrepancy

I didn’t know I had
Spelled
Your name wrong

An “S”, not a “Z”
I thought I knew
What I was doing

But you
Knew
Better

And became

Even
Less
Grey

I was only
Slightly late
To Internationa...

Stutz Squadron

You were always trying
To impress people
Or subtly calling for
Attention

In late senior year you shaved
Your head shameless
And got weirder than you
Had been before

Your on again/off again
Boyfriend deserted you
In an attempt to suck out the
Venom from between you two

You called yourself bisexual
To rebel against your parents
I assume, since I never saw you
With another girl

You’ve been desperate before
And tried to come onto me
But it didn’t happen and you
Moved on, though we were friends

I’...

Elisabeth Ungray

It was passing period
And I was walking behind you

Funny how people seem so grey
Until they turn to you and say

“Hi”

How strange it seemed to be
Approached as I was coughing

Like you took my ailment
As a salutation
But I didn’t mind much
When you turned to speak

And I noticed how familiar
You looked

I felt like I’d seen you before
But I had no idea
Why I really was so comfortable
Responding to your greeting
Or where in the background
I’d seen you before

I coughed
And you said “Hi”

That’s when...

Whatever – Journal 5/1/17

You guys are the god damn best. From the start of 2017 to today, I have officially gotten more visitors than I did all of 2016. Thank you all so much for being here.

Today I’m listening to Walking In A Dream by Empire of the Sun, in addition to some selections by Dance With the Dead. And well, it’s been a few days that I’ve been away! In that time, all manner of very very neat things have happened.

Firstly, I’m being published tomorrow. Pierce College’s SLAM for 2017 is coming out, and it’s g...

SLAM Meeting 2/27/17

Uncaged
The walls are
In your heart

So set them free

OLY 308
Curtains coming down
To cover the
Windows

Lights bright
Inside
A nice view
Peeks in
From outside

Am I a chancer
Or just so zen

Anywhen

I can be
Unchanged

Uncaged

This room is the
Bane
Of unimaginates

So Cal Lunar

I earnestly
Miss the moon

As it was more
Commonly called
Luna in
So Cal skies

How it looked new
As a dialated pupil

And when it was full
So jeweled and bold

Waxing demelting
Waning and fading

But now I can’t
See it anymore

In cloudy, rainy
Washington

Skies still have
A great allure

Yet the crystal eye
No longer burns
